Five years ago, the Dragon Ball Super anime ended with no signs of return. After super ended, the franchise still went on with the release of a monthly manga and two new Dragonball movies. These are Dragon Ball Super Broly which was released in 2018 and DragonB all Super: Super Hero which is the most recent (2022).
Fans of Toriyama’s work expected something Dragon Ball related after the popular super Hero movie and they were right. As of the writing of this article, a new Dragon Ball anime series has been announced with an expected release of 2024. It’s titled Dragon Ball Diama and it will follow a brand new storyline.
This information was released in a trailer found across social media platforms and the official Dragon Ball website. The trailer begins with the evolution of the Dragon Ball anime over time from the Original Dragon Ball to Dragon Ball Z to Super and even the movies. From there, Dragon Ball Daima was revealed as the upcoming show after the Super Hero Movie.

This trailer also gave out some details about the premise. It’s based on an entirely new story and not what’s currently happening in the manga. Based on the trailer, a wish is made by Shenron(on earth) which causes all adults to become kids. Some characters seen as kids included Goku,Vegeta, Hercule, Bulma, Gohan and others. Goten and Trunks went from teens to babies. It’s unknown if this wish affected the entire world but time will eventually tell. Now Goku and the others will have to find a way to reverse the effects of the wish.
There was also a cameo of this show’s “primary” antagonists and though their faces weren’t revealed, their clothing gave out some bits of information. Based on what was shown, there’s a huge possibility it’s a supreme kai. Another possibility might be someone with former relation to Bibidi and Babidi
This series is 100% confirmed to be canon because it’s written, directed and designed by Akira Toriyama himself. The trailer confirmed this information. In the past, there’s been some question about the canonity of some shows under the franchise umbrella for instance Dragon Ball GT .
The show is expected to release in 2024 meaning Toei is currently working the anime. A specified date isn’t revealed yet but it will be soon
