Jinrui-shoku: Blight of Man chapter 24 is titled “Past Visitors”. Chapter 23, gave us an insight on the Mummily's personality. It was revealed during this chapter Mummily’s are all connected to one another making communication easy. They also retain the personality of the person they've taken control of while having that of the alien. To read Jinrui-Shoku: Blight of Man Chapter 24, Click here.
This chapter begins with Seita and the others telling Tsukiko about the Mummily in the three-legged crow. Tsukiko didn’t believe what the others were saying. She saw the collar or the bird’s neck and decided to take it off because it was so tight. During the removal process, the Mummily went into Tsukiko trying to take her body, Tsukiko saw this.
In Tsukiko’s body, the Mummily encountered something when trying to get in Tsukiko’s body. It was a female and she referred to herself as a “God”. This god warned the Mummily and threatened to erase it if it tries influencing Tsukiko.
Tsukiko put the collar of the crow. She later on started communicating with the bird. According to the Mummily (the crow), they also came to the Earth in the past, the Earth at the time was much warmer and the animals were primitive. They reconstructed a few bodies on Earth and they loved nature (the light, the water and the air). They loved the planet but there was a problem. They couldn’t locate a food source for their bodies even though the meat was identical to that of their original planet.
After a composition analysis, it was discovered that even though the life forms on Earth resemble those from their own, the molecular configuration was “fatally different”. The exception was extremely simple molecules such as air and water. Because the nutritional value, sensations and flavor was so different, every member of their advance team starved to death. They tried numerous times after but the end result was still the same.
There was still hope. This is because their Artificial Intelligence suggested in approximately two hundred million years, they will have another chance on this planet as Bipedal intelligent lifeforms will eventually arise. When these lifeforms reach a certain level of culture, the Mummily will determine whether they are able to protect this beautiful planet and if they lack the ability. The Mummily will take their bodies as shells and that is “The Eclipse Project”.
So this chapter revealed what the Eclipse project is and why it exists in the first place. Mummily’s couldn’t survive on Earth but they can now do so using humans as shells. This chapter also confirmed there’s a ‘god-like entity” in Tsukiko’s body and I know for a fact she’s going to be vital to the story moving forward.
