Play Station Showcase

The PlayStation Live showcase has come to pass and there were lots of game titles revealed. Today, I will be talking about all games revealed to us during this event giving my thoughts and perspective on each of them. Reminder, most of these games will be released on other consoles but I put emphasis only on PlayStation because I’m talking about its event.

1- FairGame$

FairGame$

We got an in-game cinematic of FairGame$, I absolutely loved the cinematic. It has great visuals and was aesthetically beautiful. FairGame$ is developed by Haven and coming to PS5 and PC

2- HellDivers

HellDivers

This was another game shown in the PlayStation showcase. Its cinematic was hilarious a little (that was their plan). It had an amazing gameplay, I loved the camera angles and its open world looked promising. We got shown different locations topography’s such as hills, snowy landscapes and mountainous regions from a third person perspective and the playable heroes looked good. HellDivers is developed by ArrowHead Game Studio’s and this game will be coming to the PS5 and PC in 2023

3- Immortals of Aveum

Gameplay was revealed in a first person perspective. It looked good and the gameplay was good. Wasn’t a big fan of the color blend, combined with the gameplay and its speed but it was still good. It’s developed by Ascendant Studios and EAORIGINALS and will be available July 20, 2023.

4- GhostRunner

Ghost Runner was another. It had amazing visuals. We got a blend of both cinematic and gameplay. Its camera angle was in a first person perspective be it in battle or on the characters high tech bike. I won’t say anything about its world because not a lot was shown. This game is developed by 505 Games and One More Level. Release date wasn’t revealed.

5- Phantom Blade 0

We got a gameplay, and it was beautiful. This game gave me heavy Ghost of Tsushima vibes. Its world looked amazing. It had a very dark/hollow aesthetic along with our hero. Its fighting sequence was also amazing even though the designs of the foe during its cinematic were very ambitious and lacking, void of creativity. The unique bosses shown had unique fighting styles though. Camera was in a third person perspective and it was heavily lore based which was good but its gameplay and world sold it for me. This game is being developed by S-Game and will be coming to the PS5. Release date is currently unknown.

6- Sword of the sea

From the creators of Jorney and Abzu the Panthless, we got this game. It’s got a similar play style to Journey, looked good, the gameplay was okay. It was pleasing to see and so calm. Ost was also calm and looked very creative. The world was truly amazing and spectacular and fits with the game’s calm essence. Release date as of right now is currently unknown but it’ll eventually come to the PS5

7- The Talos Principle II

So this was 100% game cinematic. Gameplay wasn’t revealed but we got to see the world and it was beautiful and very well designed. There were statues in its cinematic and the locations that looked very creative. It had good visuals now let’s just hope its gameplay is as creative as it’s cinematic. This game will be coming to PS5 this year (2023)

8- Neva

From the creators of Gris we got Neva. Gameplay wasn’t revealed as it was a cinematic but it was visually stunning. There were lots of bright colors but they all blended in so well it was appealing to the eyes. The game was artistically beautiful. Its art style was so unique. This game will be released in 2024 on the PS5 by Nomada Studios and Devolver Digital.

9- Cat Quest: Pirates of the Purribean

Yes, it sounds very funny but with what was revealed, it’s going to be a nice game. Its art style was similar to Brawlhalla. Its gameplay is both 2D and 3D depending on its moments. The world looks creative though it’s not the best based on what was shown but it’s still alright. This game releases in 2024.

10- Foamstars

This was another game shown during the PlayStation showcase. It was developed by Square Enix so it’s visually stunning. The world looked creative along with character designs. Gameplay was also good. Based on its gameplay, the game was heavily influenced by Splatoon but instead of paint we have bubbles of different colors. There were also powers ups so that’s a good I guess. It will be coming to both PS5 and PS4, release date unknown.

11- The Plucky Squire

This is easily one of the most creative games during this showcase. Its heavily story based and gameplay was revealed to an extent. Gameplay here was in a story book. So it’s like we’ll be reading a story book and also playing a game. Aside from that, playable characters can also go beyond the storybook (come out of the story book and roam around in the world with a style similar to little big planet). It was very stunning, aesthetically beautiful and very creative. This game releases on PS5 this year by Devolver Digital and All Possible Futures

12- TearDown

This game was also good. This one was quite unique. It had an artsy similar to Minecraft and Lego but it’s also heavily focused on graphics. Its world looks amazing and creative. Its gameplay is also good. I don’t even know if we’ll get to be an actual playable character because it felt as though it was a system. For instance there were boats controlled by players but no one was driving them; feels like we’ll control objects. Its release date is currently unknown but it’s coming to the PS5 brought by Tuxedo labs and Saber

13- Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater

Gameplay wasn’t revealed. We just got a cinematic of the game showcasing its beautiful gameplay visuals and it was truly magnificent. It did not disappoint. This cinematic took place in a forest showcasing the wild life. Aside from its visuals, its textural classes based on the world and forest’s ecosystem was amazing. Release date as of right now is currently known. Metal Gear Solid Collection Vol 1 was also announced comprising of Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater

14- Towers of Aghasba

We got a cinematic and gameplay. Based on what was shown, fans can easily get a better understanding of the game. Our protagonist basically has to restore the damaged world. This game was open world, looked creative and amazing color Blend. There were also a lot of fictional creatures in this game but most possessed attributes of elements. The land, sky and locations was nice, it wasn’t too crazy but alright. Brough to you by Dreamlit, it will be releasing in 2024.

15- Final Fantasy XVI (16)

So, there’s already a lot of information regarding Final Fantasy 16 in the Internet. It’s been hyped up like crazy. Final Fantasy has its own showcase that explains a lot about the game. Here, we got an in-game cinematic and gameplay. It looked good, gameplay was good. There were just small story hints and gameplay hints which can be found in the final fantasy event already. Brought to you by Square Enix, this game releases June 22, 2023 on PS5

16- Alan Wake II

Both an in-game cinematic and gameplay was revealed. It’s heavily investigation-based with mixes of horror in-between. It had beautiful visuals, a dark aesthetic which fit perfectly with its setting. It’s visually stunning and has a sense of mystery. Its world looked very creative despite its troupe. Brought to you by Epic Games and Remedy Entertainment, it releases on October 17, 2023

17- Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Another huge IP announced during event. We got a mix of in-game cinematic and gameplay and it was truly amazing; easily one of the best during this event. Gameplay looked polished and clean, it was truly beautiful, no major hints revealed about the story. Location setting was on point adding to its amazing visuals. Ubisoft truly is astounding. This game will be releasing on October 12, 2023 on both the PS5 and PS4.

18- Revenant Hill

This game was unique; it was 2D focusing on a cat’s journey. The art style was good and had a dark aura similar to the coralline movie (its background). Details about its story weren’t revealed but I’m 100% certain it’s heavily adventure based on what was shown. Brought to you by Finji, release date for this game is currently unknown but it will be coming to both PS5 and PS4.

19- Granblue Fantasy Relink

This is an RPG game developed by cygames. During this event, we primarily got to see its gameplay with great focus on its battles. It was good, it had good visuals. The open world wasn’t really emphasized on. Its battles looked good and there was a blend in powers and abilities from different characters. This game releases winter 2023 on both PS5 and PS4

20- Street Fighter 6

An in-game cinematic of street fighter 6 was revealed during this event and not the actual gameplay. From the looks of this, it might be heavily story-based. A wide variety of casts were also introduced with various creative and amazing designs. As a Capcom game, it had a unique art style true to Capcom. The game releases on June 2, 2023. It’s also revealed you get additional content if you re-order it such as Costume Color: Outfit 1 Color 10 Chun-li, Manon, Dee Jay, Juri and Ken You also get special titles and stickers, unique art designs of the 18 launch characters

21- Ultros

Another 2D game revealed during this event was Ultros. Fans got to see its gameplay and it was very vibrant and colorful. It heavily focuses on adventure but we got to see major action moments with some bosses. The game has an intuiting aesthetic and I love the animation. Watching it, there were moments I thought the environment was colored bacteria. This game releases in 2024.

22- Tower of Fantasy

With an art similar to Genshin impact, this was another game revealed during the PlayStation live showcase event. It was made up of in-game cinematic but also focused primarily on gameplay and it was good. I loved the battle system revealed. Players could use battle gears during gameplay which is good. It’s an RPG game and release date is currently unknown.

23- Dragons Dogma II

We got an in-game cinematic and gameplay of Dragons Dogma II. It was really cool paying emphasis on its gameplay was fantastic, it was heavily focused on its open world. There were lots of mythological creatures reveals with one example being a Dragon. The in-game cinematic also emphasized a little on its story which without giving out spoilers.

24- Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted 2

Nothing special was revealed here, it was just a short footage with camera from a first person perspective. Its visuals looked nice even though it’s not actual game footage. It releases this year (2023) with no precise release date revealed.

25- Resident Evil 4: VR2 Mode

A brief in-game cinematic and gameplay was show regarding Resident evil 4 virtual Reality Mode. The world was beautiful and had a very dark aesthetic as expected of a Resident evil game. The world looked amazing and horrifying. The player was shown across different place settings from dark forests to dark tunnels. Capcom didn’t disappoint and it was revealed it’s still in development.

26- Arizona Sunshine 2: VR2

This is another Virtual reality game shown during the event. It’s about a zombie apocalypse and an in-game cinematic was revealed along with gameplay. Its gameplay wasn’t the best but it was still good. Its visuals were alright and this game was said to be released in 2023.

27- Crossfire Seirra Squad

Crossfire Seirra Squad was another VR game revealed. It’s heavily influenced by Call of Duty. It has amazing gameplay and was visually okay. We got multiple scenes showing its gameplay and game physics. It wasn’t sluggish at all. It was really fast and also seems to me like a good experience for virtual reality

28- Snapse

This was the fourth VR game announced during this event. It was amazing, it was visually stunning, its world was very creative and I absolutely loved its gameplay. Definitely better than the other 2 I mentioned above but taking into account the others are still in development while this is almost completed. I loved the game’s art. Brought to you by nDreams, this game releases on July 4 2023 subject to change as per the decision of the developers.

29- Marathon

Marathon’s Gameplay wasn’t revealed during this event. It was just a cinematic which was visually stunning and artistically intriguing. I loved its blend of colors during this cinematic even though it’s not 100% guaranteed. Its release date is currently unknown

30- Destiny 2: The final Shape

Destiny 2 revealed a cinematic which was absolutely beautiful. The cinematic was absolutely perfect and did not disappoint. The amount of detail, the character and environmental textures, its place setting was just too beautiful. Bungie put a lot of effort in this. More information will be revealed during a showcase in August 22 2023

31- Concord

A gameplay wasn’t revealed, we just got a teaser in the form of a short cinematic about Space projections. Visually it was beautiful but I can’t say anything about its gameplay because as you know, nothing was revealed. This game releases in2024.

32- Marvel Spider-Man 2

This was the highlight of this event. There was a lot revealed during this event. So Spider-Man 2 got both an in-cinematic and gameplay. We got introduced to Craven and Doctor Connors this means the buildup over the last two Spider-man games were on point. Aside from that Peter Parker had to symbiotic suit on making things more hype. Players could use both Peter Parker and Miles. Its gameplay was amazing, visually stunning and I’m sure its story will not disappoint. The open world was fantastic.

Closure

So that’s all games revealed during this event. I was impressed and a lot caught my attention. PlayStation truly has a beautiful future with how impressive its game line-up is.
