Boruto episode 291 is finally aired and fans have mixed reaction about this episode. The episode is titled 'Control' airing on March 12 2023.It’s the adaptation of an important manga canon fight which was Boruto vs Code and this was like a treat to fans but there were some issues. I will talk about the what happens in the episode paying emphasis to both the good and the bad aspects of the episode. The following article will conatin major spoilers pertaining to Boruto episode episode 291 which can be seen below.
After the opening theme, Boruto episode 291 begins with a brief conversation between Boruto and Code with Code introducing himself to Boruto. Code tells Boruto he’s inherited the will of the Otsutsuki but Boruto calls Code an underling. Code goes on talking about how the Otsutsuki to him are like gods and it hurts him knowing he has to feed an Otsutsuki to become a “God” but Boruto says he won’t let it happen. Code them decides to ‘test Boruto quality’ as a future sacrifice by fighting him . In response to Code, Boruto asks Kawaki to help him beat code before they go home.
The next interaction in this episode took place in Konoha. Ino being the head of the sensory division has been trying to trace Kawaki’s Chakra for some time now to no avail. She tells Naruto they’ve searched the entire village and even extended the sensory range to the surrounding area to no avail. She tells Naruto there’s a possibility he might’ve erased his Chakra. Naruto recalls what Boruto said and decides to go check up on him but Boruto is nowhere to be found. He asks Nishi to try finding Boruto via sensing his Chakra but Nishi couldn’t because Boruto wasn’t nearby.
There’s a battle with Boruto and Code in the forest. Boruto tries holding his own but Code is just more powerful. Boruto also has problems hitting Code because he can easily teleport. Code then talks about how Karma true essence isn’t only a boost in physical strength and speed but the accumulation of the Otsutsuki experience over their long lifespan overlaid upon the experience of the user. Code here is basically saying Boruto will get all of Momoshiki past experience referring to the true essence of Karma making him become an experienced warrior if he draws out its power properly. Code about the stomp Boruto with his foot says he knows the full extent of Momoshiki power hasn’t been revealed.
Suddenly, we see Boruto with the blue aura. Fans think its Momoshiki but to Code and Kawaki’s greatest surprise its actually Boruto who’s in control. Boruto asks Kawaki to stay back as a decisive battle between Boruto and Code unfolds. Boruto is keeping up with white Karma Code. Kawaki notices Boruto movement are different when he’s tapped into Momoshiki power . Code asks Eida what’s going on and she tells him it’s the meds given to him by Amado. She thinks its stopping Otsutsuki Momoshiki from taking control of Boruto’s body. Eida warns Code to be careful so he wouldn’t be defeated before getting his true power.
Konoha: Naruto asks Ino to search for Boruto Chakra because he knows Kawaki will be there. He asks Ino to check to also check some Kilometers outside the village. Shikamaru tells Naruto Code might also be there and since Naruto doesn’t have Kurama it will be a huge problem. He brings up the possibility of Kawaki already being dead but Naruto says he can’t abandon the kids. Shikamru insists on tagging along with Naruto as he can’t stop him. Hinata also insists on tagging along but Naruto begs her to stay. He activates his sage mode ready to search for Boruto
Forest:Its revealed Boruto can’t absorb Code’s claw marks because he’s mixed his claw marks with Iron from his blood. Kawaki still confused keeps bombarding Boruto with questions about Momoshiki’s control as Code is on his way to the battle ground after being tossed away by Boruto. Code arrives telling Boruto he will feed him to the tentails and become Otsutsuki confirming Boruto is of god quality. He teleports behind Kawaki and tries taking him to Eida but Kawaki fights back along with Boruto.
Konoha: Naruto senses Boruto along with another mysterious Chakra which is Code. Shikamaru worries as Naruto couldn’t maintain sage mode for long before. Naruto tells Shikamaru he’s learned more over the years and he will be able to maintain it for a longer period calling it “Wisdom of Age”. Sai tells Amado what’s happening and Amado wonders how Code was able to find Kawaki. Sumire brings up a proposition of Code getting a new outer with the ability to locate people but Amado denies that saying there’s no outer he knows about with that ability.
Forest: Boruto and kawaki are fighting Code and actually keeping up with him. Suddenly Boruto starts losing breath and falls down. He is in pain, holding his chest and running out of breath. Code blitzes Kawaki kicking him away. Just as he’s about to attack Boruto, Time stops, Boruto says he feels this same sensation is similar when he defeated Momoshiki. As time is unfrozen, Momoshiki evades the attack and creates a massive Rasengan at code.
The good aspects of this episode was basically the story telling. This was one of the defining factors of this episode as the story telling was good. Another positive of this episode was the pacing. The episode was very fast paced, it wasn’t sluggish and it was straight to the point. Fans also got more information on lore which was good.
One of the bad aspects of this episode was the art. Though it wasn’t bad, in fact, it was actually good but there existed some major errors which wasn’t good. Another bad aspect about this episode was the animation. For a major manga canon fight, the animation didn’t do it justice but it wasn’t completely bad as there were some pretty fluid parts. According to Fish or @SureKen, one of the animators who worked on Boruto episode 291, he said “I couldn’t finish everything due to moving houses”. Meaning the animators were not the problem, it was the studio.
Boruto episode 292 will be released on March 19 along with Boruto chapter 79. Keep your expectations in check for this so you won’t be disappointed
