VIZ announces "Rooster Fighter" anime at SSDC 2024 with key visual, trailer and team

Rooster Fighter Anime

“Rooster Fighter” will be getting an official anime. Rooster Fighter is a Seinen manga by Shu Sakuratani which follows the story of Keiji, a lone rooster who hunt down mutant demons in Japan. The manga was released in 2020 and it’s still ongoing.


Announcement Details


On July 25, 2024, the anime adaptation of “Rooster Fighter” was announced by Viz Media at San Diego Comic-con in collaboration with Hero’s Inc. During this panel, not a lot of details about the show was revealed, we know the anime is going to follow its source material but it’s uncertain as of the moment.

This announcement was accompanied with the release of a new teaser visual for this upcoming anime. This visual was released by Rooster Fighter’s official account on X and also on other social media platforms. This visual features Keiji and Chik who are the main characters from the mango. The post on X reads

“While Monstrous demons wreak havoc, one brave rooster stand his ground! Get hyped for the upcoming Rooster Fighter anime with the new teaser visual!”

The creator of Rooster Fighter, Shu Sakuratani out of excitement released an illustration for this upcoming anime. A message came along with the illustration which reads:

“Rooster Fighter will be made into an anime!!!!!!!!!
Finally, I can let you know this great news!!!!!!

Sakuratani's statement


Shu Sakuratani also made a statement to Viz about this upcoming anime. It reads:

“Rooster Fighter is finally being made into an anime! Ever since becoming a manga artist, my biggest goal was to have my work adapted into an anime. So, I can’t tell you how happy I am to see my dream come true!

This is all thanks to my readers’ continued support and Hero’s and VIZ Media’s contribution. I extend my gratitude to all of you.

I believe Rooster Fighter is very blessed. We have the best director, the best writer, the best production staff, and the best voice actors all working together to create the best anime.


As the original creator, I am ecstatic! I can’t wait to see Keiji and the gang come to life on TV. I hope that everyone out there will enjoy this anime where chickens take center stage!”

Animation studio and Team


As of the moment, there is no release date for this upcoming anime. Although the show was announced to air of Adult Swim, VIZ revealed other streaming platforms will be announced across different territories in the near future. The animation studio responsible for this upcoming anime is going to be Sanzigen. The series will be directed by Daisuke Suzuki and Hiroshi Seko will be in charge of composition. The producer for this upcoming anime is going to be Joseph Chou and it will be produced by SOLA ENTERTAINMENT. These details were revealed in the trailer.
