The Mummily's Hypnotic Ability Confirmed (Jinrui-shogu: Blight Of Man chapter 5)

Jinrui-shogu: Blight Of Man chapter 5 is titled ‘Rena Hamaguchi’, focusing on Hayato’s interaction with his new family and also the entity that has taken control of Seita’s body. More information is revealed about an ability possessed by a Mummily so if you don’t like spoilers, I suggest you read chapter 5 of Jinrui-shogu: Blight of Man
Seita Is Awake
The chapter starts off with were we left off, Seita waking up from the hospital controlled by another with Seita (his consciousness) still residing in Hayato wondering what’s taken control of his body.
In order to make understanding better, I’m going to refer to Seita’s conscious state in Hayato as Seita and Seita’s body controlled by another as The Entity
The entity is now awake and feels very hungry. He tries recalling his name concluding its Seita Tachibana. His parents show up worried especially the mom. They are not his real parents. She’s happy because now she will be able to face the main branch of the family. The doctor is in shock because his recovery is astonishingly fast. He tells Seita’s guardians/parents it’s only been 2 days since the surgery and he’s already sitting up. The entity (Seita) asks the doctor to leave the room because he wants to talk to his family. The doctor leaves the room asking him not to push himself too hard. Seita’s mom is upset because that wasn’t the proper way to talk to the doctor because he might charge extra. Seita is so scared asking for forgiveness. He’s hopes his mom doesn’t hit him. She’s surprised and asks what’s wrong. This is because this woman would never hit Seita, she and her husband are afraid of the main branch of the family and realizes Seita’s real family might do something to her. The entity is confused saying Wrong one. That brings me to my first theory, what if all these Mummily incidents is actually caused by something specific which is currently residing in Seita.
Seita's Control
Seita’s foster mom is confused wondering if he hit his head. The Entity asks his foster mom for food because he’s hungry. She says he just had surgery and can’t eat anything or else the doctor will be angry but the Entity doesn’t care asking her to ’just bring food’. She accepts but from the reaction in her face, it’s as though she’s hypnotized. The entity gives its order which is a ’Sweet Bean Buns, Egg sandwiches and Pollack Roe Rice Balls’. His foster father wonders what’s wrong with Kazue because she never does what Seita wants that easily. The entity calls on his foster father telling him to ’Go Home’. He follows the entity’s order and agrees.
The Mummily's Hypnotic Ability Confirmed
This confirms one of the first abilities of the Mummily. This ability is hypnosis. There’s no doubt Seita has been possessed by a Mummily but the phenomenon of hypnosis has been used before. You see, when Hayato’s mom was still alive and was controlled by a Mummily, she could control her son with just speech and hypnotize him to the point he wasn’t aware of her evil atrocities towards Seita. Sometimes it felt as though Hayato lost control of himself. This means Mummily possess the ability to hypnotize and control others. .
Hayato and Rena's Interaction
At Hayato’s new home, Hayato along with Rena are eating. Kamikawa asks Hayato how the food tastes and he says it’s delicious. Rena with a serious face requests Kamikawa pass her the mayonnaise. She puts the mayonnaise on the white rice adding a splash of Soy Sauce on it and Hayato is disgusted by it. Rena tells Hayato it’s the tastiest asking him to try it. Hayato’s mom would do something similar in the past with Soy sauce. Rena tells Kamikawa the food was so fancy it was hard to eat. Hayato is crying wondering whether it’s the food or because he hasn’t eaten with someone for some time now. Rena knows it’s Kawikawa’s cooking. She tells him he will pay if he leaves any food behind. Seita seeing everything thinks Rena is similar to Hayato’s mom saying ’they have the same vibe’. Rena asks Kamikawa where her dad but she replies saying he will be late today. Her dad is always late though.
Seita Wonders whats in his body
Hayato is tired. He’s lying on the bed in his room and he’s stuffed. We get to see Hayato’s third eye active. It’s Seita. He’s happy for Hayato because his new family is kind. Hayato feels sad because everything’s focused on him now meanwhile Seita’s body is still in the hospital informing him about it. Seita asks Hayato not to worry. He goes on saying he will be fine as long as his body is still alive. From the panel, Seita’s conscious state seems to be lying on the bed. Hayato falls asleep telling Seita he will go back and check on him tomorrow.
Seita’s thought process is revealed. Seita says there are a lot of souls of the dead in the hospital. Some are old men who died of cancer while others are girls who were killed in car accidents and they don’t even realize they’re dead. He said he would always get possessed and Tsukiko would exorcise them out of him. He now wonders what he should do about the entity in his body. It wasn’t human or a spirit that failed to pass on. It’s a Mummily but he believes he will get back for sure. Hayato wakes up wondering if said something. At the hospital, the Entity still eating becomes bored of the hospital and that’s how the chapter ends.
Closure
Seita’s body is now being controlled by another and this entity is bored. There’s a huge chance he might wreak havoc because he’s felling bored. What happens next should be interesting. This way we will get to know more about Mummily.
