Minato To Get His own One-shot Manga

After the release on the 20th anniversary Naruto trailer, the fandom got wind of a major Naruto announcement for Jump Festa 2023. Few months ago precisely in December 2022, we got the announcement and even though it wasn’t a new show like what people imagined, it was still great. The announcement included;

-The anime adaptation of the Sasuke Retsuden novel in Boruto

-The official announcement of the Code arc

-And the Naruto Top 99 Poll

The Naruto Top 99 Poll

The Naruto top 99 poll was the announcement the fandom was really excited for. Some people might not know what this poll is. You see, characters from the Naruto franchise(Boruto excluded) were put in a poll and the most voted character will get his/her own One-manga by Masashi Kishimoto. The Poll was specifically characters from Naruto and Naruto Shippudden. Aside from that, the top 20 characters in this poll are to get illustrations by Masashi Kishimoto. This poll was held from December 17 2022 to January 31st 2023. That’s why this poll is so huge to the Naruto fandom. It’s basically a blessing and a gift to fans.

Kishimoto's message

Along with the poll, there was an official illustration for the Naruto Top 99 poll. It’s also mentioned there will be 2 extra character illustrations aside from the other top 20 characters. Furthermore, Masashi Kishimoto issued a message with the release of the result. The message can be seen below

Masashi Kishimoto : “Thank You for the incredible amount of votes! It was fun seeing how results varied from region to region. I was shocked to see Minato at the top for all regions, and the fact that Sakura is so beloved by many people around the world made me proud as a writer. To tell you the truth, I was actually rooting for Kurama. I was planning on drawing only the top 20 characters, but I really wanted to add Kurama, who was close to 22nd…. So I ended up including him and Guy, who was in 21st place! Sorry for completely ignoring the original plan to have the top 20 characters for the 20th anniversary because of my personal attachment. Right now, I’m working on the short manga for Minato who placed 1st. While trying to make a story that would match the expectation of his fans, I ended up with more pages than I had originally anticipated. Please look forward to the secret story behind Minato’s Jutsu! I want to thank you all very much for voting!”

From his message, the two extra characters who will get illustration aside from the top 20 are Might Guy and Kurama. This is because Kishimoto is a big fan of Kurama.

What To Expect

Based on Kishimoto’s message, the manga will focus on Minato learning either the Flying Thunder God technique or the Rasengan as he emphasizes on the “secret story behind Minato’s justu“. There’s a possibility it might be something else but I believe it’s either the Flying Thunder God technique otherwise known as Flying Raijin or the Rasengan. I’m excited either way.

Closure

The popularity poll is finally out and Minato won. There are a lot of happy fans. Itachi came in second place and Sakura came in third. The release date for the Minato One-shot manga is currently unknown but will be later announced soon.
