How Sarada Awakens Her Mangekyou Sharingan (Boruto Chapter 80 recap)

Boruto chapter 80 is titled “What would Dad do’ focusing more on the development that occurred last chapter. Last month, In Boruto chapter 79, Boruto and Kawak’s fates were rewritten therefore swapping their role. Kawaki is now an Uzumaki and Boruto is now an outsider. Boruto Now A Wanted Rogue Ninja
The hunt for Boruto is currently underway. Boruto realizing what happened is running away. Shikamaru asks Eida what happened to Naruto. Last chapter, Kawaki asked Eida to tell them Naruto died in the hands of Boruto but she was reluctant. Here, we see Kawaki is forcing Eida to tell Shikamaru Boruto killed Naruto. Kawaki is holding tight the collar Of Eida’s cloths and she doesn’t seem to like what’s going on. Eida confirms Naruto died in the hands of Boruto and Kawaki lets her go. I think Kawaki is very ungrateful.
Shikamaru's announcement
Mitsuki in sage mode is out for Boruto’s blood because of the effects of Eida’s omnipotence. Sarada begs Mitsuki to stop and that’s when Shikamaru makes an announcement confirming Naruto died in the hands of Boruto. Sarada is in shock, she’s confused about what’s happening. Anyone in her situation will be very confused about what’s happening. Sumire realizes something’s weird is happening thinking about the ray of light she saw when Omnipotence was activated
Sarada feels so disheartened about what’s happening and she can’t even stop it. Mitsuki in sage mode goes after Boruto. Kawaki now believes no one will interfere with him Killing Boruto now after everything’s that happened. Eida looking very disturbed even asks Kawaki if he had to go this far but Kawaki basically has this notion of killing Boruto at all cost and protecting the Hokage. I’m still baffled as to how Kawaki can say all this considering everything he’s done so far.
We got a panel showing Naruto and Hinata frozen in Isshiki time dimension. This confirms they are actually frozen and not training like some people theorized.
Daemon jumps on Kawaki taking him to the group. He warns Kawaki not to mess with his sis but Kawaki threatens to kill him. Daemon asks Kawaki to try doing that if he can. We get a panel of Eida and she looks very disturbed. She’s starting to see Kawaki’s true colors and I’m sure she’s questioning her feelings for him.
Sarada Interaction with Sasuke/Sumire
The next interaction in this chapter takes place between Sarada, Sasuke and Sumire. Sasuke runs over to Sarada because he’s worried for his daughter. Sarada tells her dad Mitsuki’s going after Boruto but Sasuke thinks it’s only natural. From this, Sarada realizes her dad is no different from the others. Sumire is telepathically communicating with Sarada asking ”if her mind is completely sound right now”.
Boruto on the run is ambushed by the new Ino-Shika-Cho and caught in a shadow paralysis. Shikadai and the others are very upset with him with Shikadai telling Boruto ”That’s not what a friend does”. The interactions between Boruto/Ino-shika-cho isn't close to that of Sarada and Sasuke.
Sarada tells Sumire things have been weird for some time now wondering if she’s okay. Sumire guarantees she’s fine precisely saying ”You should be Fine, actually you and me both”. Sasuke still with Sarada asks if she’s okay because she looks pale. Sumire tells Sarada she isn’t sure about what’s happening but she thinks it has something to do with Eida. This is because they are both the only ones immune to Eida’s love ability so it’s a similar situation. Sarada tells her everyone was following Kawaki but now they’re after Boruto. Sumire believes it’s the work of a powerful Shinjutsu and Eida did something to save Kawaki. Sarada is in tears. She believes what just happened is very cruel with Sumire confirming she’s not sure of what they might do regardless of whether they know or not.
Sarada Awakens Her Mangekyou Shringan
Sarada tells her dad Boruto is innocent and he would never kill Naruto. Sasuke tells her he’s never had weird prejudices about him but he tried to kill Kawaki. Shikadai and the others are upset with Boruto. We now get to see Momoshiki. Momoshiki is persuading Boruto to give up his body or else he will be killed but Boruto asks him to stay out of this.
Sarada is still trying to convince Sasuke Boruto is innocent. Sasuke asks her to go home but she begs and cries asking her dad to listen to the first and only selfish favor she’ll ask of him which is to save Boruto. It was in the moment Sarada awakened her Mangekyou Sharingan and it’s the shape of a sun. This makes Sarada the Youngest female and Second youngest Uchiha to Awaken the MS at such an early age with Shisui being Number getting it when he was 6/7yrs old. I believe Sarada has been through so much during this period of time and all that has caused her emotions to burst hence her awakening the MS.
Sasuke Saves Boruto
Boruto still trapped in the shadow paralysis warns Momoshiki not to do anything to his friends. Momoshiki reaffirms to Boruto he doesn’t have any friends and all he sees is enemies who want to kill him. Boruto asks Momoshiki to go to sleep. Sasuke dashes at Boruto saving him from the shadow paralysis. Shikadai and the others saw Sasuke this means Sasuke is officially a fugitive of Konoha again. Eida carrying Daemon on her back goes after both of them.
This honestly just makes Sasuke more goated. He decided to save Boruto on his daughters request even though his memory and mind is against it. The love and faith he has for his daughter is simply amazing.
Sasuke, Boruto and Eida Interaction
Sasuke narrates a story about how he first met Kawaki explaining to Boruto that’s what his mind tells him. Boruto thanks Sasuke asking why he’s helping him. Sasuke notices Boruto has his headband but he remembers giving it to Kawaki. He also tells Boruto Momoshiki is in his body when he should be in Kawaki’s. With this Sasuke realizes he can’t trust his own memories but he believes in Sarada and according to his daughter, Boruto is innocent. Sasuke tells Boruto to prove his own memories wrong. Momoshiki is very upset because things aren’t going as planned.
Momoshiki keeps insisting Boruto has lost everything. He tells Boruto if Eida is killed nothing will ever change because Omnipotence isn’t a genjutsu that can be altered. Boruto doesn’t care about what Momoshiki is saying. Momoshiki super upset yells at Boruto to let him take over his body but Boruto tells him to be silent. Momoshiki is about to crack. He can’t handle Boruto’s positivity along with his emotional and mental maturity.
Eida arrives apologizing to Boruto. Sasuke has finally seen her but even though we know he likes her, he’s not openly simping which is good. Eida asks Boruto if he knows about what happened and Boruto replies ”yes”, telling her what he knows. She emphasizes on how she can’t control the ability talking about how its occurred before making everyone fall in love with her hence her love ability. Boruto forgives her because he knows what’s happening isn’t her desire. It’s Kawaki’s desire .He compares himself to Kawaki emphasizing on how they are ”polar opposites”. He now has to go through what Kawaki has been through all his life (the hardship Kawaki faced). Eida tells Boruto Kawaki does think of him as a brother. Sasuke compares Boruto situation now to what Naruto faced in the past.
Momoshiki is upset because he didn’t think this conversation would happen but Boruto insists he hasn’t lost everything because he has the blood of his dad, the Seventh Hokage Naruto Uzumaki, his mom’s Hyuga blood and his granddad who was the fourth Hokage. Boruto doesn’t even blame Kawaki because he believes it’s the Momoshiki situation that caused all this. Boruto decides to train and become stronger so he can have a conversation with his brother Kawaki. Eida is shocked Boruto is so young yet so mature. She goes on saying she won’t tell Kawaki his location. Daemon tells Boruto to become stronger so he can give him a good fight. Sasuke decides to takeoff with Boruto because Konoha is still hunting them down. Boruto asks Eida to thank Sarada for sending Sasuke to his aid. Its just unfortunate both Kawaki and Code are after Boruto's life. This chapter confirmed Eida's Omnipotence ability worked on Code
Closure
This was an amazing chapter. So much information was given out in just a span of 40 pages. Sarada awakens her Mangekyou Sharingan and Sasuke goes rogue once more. This chapter is also the perfect set up for the Time Skip. The next chapter is expected to release on August 20 because the manga will be going on hiatus but the set up was impressive
