You’ve most likely heard about this animated show once in your life if you haven’t seen it. It is one of the most popular animated franchises of all time. Developed by Pixar in2006, Cars was a huge success grossing $462 million at the global box office. This success eventually led to the creation of a Franchise as time went on and there are over three shows in this franchise.
These include Cars 1 released in 2006, Cars 2 released in 2011 and Cars 3 released in 2017 .It also has several animated TV series. It follows the story of Lightning McQueen, a racer with the goal of becoming one of the greatest race cars of all time. McQueen has Mater by his side, who is his close friend and who supports him. The premise varies from 1, 2 and 3 but McQueen and Mater go hand-in-hand in all these three shows. It has been six years since the release of Cars 3 but nothing has been said about “Cars 4” which is in great anticipation.
This past month (November 2023), it was revealed there are upcoming Car projects during “The Late Brake Show” on YouTube. Johnny Smith interviews Jay Ward who co-created Disney Pixar “Cars” characters. This took place at the Porsche Rennsport Reunion event in Florida. This event took place this past month and there was a lot of vital information revealed during this interview.
Jay Ward spoke about his early life in relation to the release of the first “Car” movie (Cars 1). He spoke about his inspiration in designing the characters. The main highlight though was on Sally Carrerra who is Lightning McQueen’s wife. Jay spoke about her creation, the real life inspiration behind this car model, and other details about her. He also spoke about the staff behind cars and some of his personal favorite creations.
During this interview, Johnny asked a very important question. This question was about if there’s going to be anything related to cars in the future. Jay replied
“There are more Cars things brewing. I can’t quite say what yet but Cars has got a life that will keep going. I'm working on some really fun projects, right now that you will see, in the next couple of years. It takes us a while to make things”. What this means is the franchise won’t die anytime soon and Pixar is currently working on new Cars projects which will be released in the future.
One of such projects might be Cars 4. Cars 3 was a huge success. Fans loved and it there’s been great anticipation for Cars 4. The most recent Cars project is the “Cars on the Road” mini TV Series which was released in September 2023. So far this series has one season consisting of 9 episodes.
