BLAST to run FNCS and RLCS tournaments after multi-year partnership with Epic Games

On January 4, 2023, BLAST announced they are entering a multi-year partnership deal and collaboration with Epic Games. According to the details revealed, this partnership will enable BLAST run their prestigious and competitive tournaments.


BLAST multi-year partnership with Epic


BLAST revealed this information on X, formally known as Twitter. The exact phrases revealed in this post on X says; “We have announced a multi-year deal & collaboration with Epic Games to run their prestigious competitive tournaments, the @FNCompetition(FNCS) and @RLEsports(RLCS) starting in 2024”.

This means new partnership will let BLAST handle all competitions, productions and marketing operations for FNCS and RLCS. FNCS stands for Fortnite Championship Series and RLCS means Rocket League Championship Series. Epic Games has the rights to both games and they are both used in major tournaments across the globe because of how successful, popular and balanced these games are. BLAST is also going to be responsible for the commercial rights of both games competitive broadcasts and events.



Leo Matlock on the partnership


The CBO (Chief Business Officer) of BLAST, Leo Matlock took to the company’s website saying;

“We are immensely proud to announce this momentous multi-year deal with Epic Games. We believe this partnership represents the future of competitive gaming, where organizations like BLAST are able to work in tandem with world-leading publishers to create incredible experiences for players and teams to compete at the top level in front of fans all over the world.”

“Pioneering positive change in Esports has always been part of BLAST DNA and this announcement is an amazing continuation of that journey. Working together with the world’s biggest game publishers to elevate and grow their competitive properties has been a huge area of focus for BLAST in recent years. This collaboration is testament to that hard work and we are delighted to expand our relationship with Epic Games by operating the Rocket League Championship Series in addition to the Fortnite Championship series.”

BLAST is an Esport entertainment company that creates, distributes and broadcasts studio shows, arena events, streams and online content precisely in relation to Esport tournaments. Tournaments vary depending on the game and winners receive a prize which still depends on the game and the company’s say.


Closure


Epic Games and BLAST have worked in the past before for Esports competition and it was a success. BLAST first teamed up with Epic Games and Fortnite in 2021 during the FNCS All-star Showdown and the FNCS Grand Royale events. BLAST also operated all FNCS 2022 and 2023 FNCS schedules and the November 2022 FNCS invitational in Raleigh, North Carolina. BLAST and Epic Games with this new partnership are now expanding and strengthening their already existing relationship.
