Jinrui-shoku: Blight of Man

Jinrui-shoku: Blight of Man chapter 11 has been released revealing a lot of vital information that will be relevant to the story going forward. The Mummily’s weakness, its powers and more information about its origin has been revealed. I will be talking about this information while reviewing both chapter 10 and 11 of Jinrui-shoku: Blight of Man so if you haven’t read the chapter, you can do so. So I’m going to talk about Jinrui-shoku chapter 10 and chapter 11.

The Rendezvous

So Chapter 10 is titled “summons” and begins with Hayato calling Seita (the Mummily). They both have a heart to heart conversation and the Mummily is actually nice. They both agree to meet at the Park the following day at 10am. Remember Hayato is doing this on Inukai’s request.

The Confrontation

Seita(Mummily) decides to call up a classmate of theirs known as Kaori for a Rendezvous. He seems to have all of Seita’s memory which is understandable as this entity has control of his body. The following day, at exactly 10am in the Park, Hayato confronts the Seita asking it to give Seita’s body back. The Mummily reveals it’s present because Hayato refused his mother so Seita (his body) took Hayato’s place. This entity goes on claiming ownership over Seita because it’s healed his eye and even his arms. It also reveals its goal for doing so was to play with the girls meaning this thing is a pervert.

Kaori's mysterious encounter

Something happened with Kaori on her way to the park. She was attacked by some birds and the flower she got for Seita was destroyed but she noticed a bird with three legs and realized later it could talk. I thought she’d faint at first but she didn’t which is actually surprising. At the park, Seita is cornered by Inukai and Hayato forcefully held by Hayato.

The Mummily's weakness

Chapter 10 was like a build up to what happens and it actually paid off. Jinrui-shoku: Blight of Man chapter 11 is titled ”Main Body” and starts off from were chapter 10 ended. The Mummily struggles but can’t escape Hayato’s grip. Inukai has a secret weapon against it and its salt. It’s revealed in this chapter the Mummily hates salt. Seita(Mummily) found it very displeasing and didn’t even it was salt until after Inukai revealed so.

What is the Mummification process?

Mummily

Inukai accessed the Mummily’s mind and tracing its soul to the other side, he found the main body which is like the big boss. Inukai believes Human kind has been under attack for years and Mummifications are side effects of the large amounts of energy required all at once to download its(these entities) souls from its main body and this dies out the human hosts.

Mummily's human analogy

It’s confirmed these things can also move from one body to another meaning my hypothesis was on point but something really interesting is also revealed here. It’s revealed for every person who is Mummified and killed/dies, there’s another in someone else’s body that’s blending into human society like nothing happened. I absolutely love this reveal as it makes the story more complex.

The Mummily's powers

It’s at this moment Kaori shows up and everything falls apart. Seita (The mummily) escapes Hayato’s clutches and starts manipulating Kaori like she’s a doll. Similar to when he did so with Hayato’s care takers and when Hayato’s mom was controlling her son. This thing asks Kaori to kneel and place her hands on her chin and top of her head telling her to break her own neck when it gives the signal.

Hayato is shocked but Inukai seems to have a plan. Inukai reveals the Mummies or Mummily possess the ability to control hearts of the people around them and from the inside and the deeper the relationship, the stronger the control and if they can control others, they can easily takeover their bodies. Inukai points out a dependent relationship make it worse which is why Hayato and his mom were targeted. This Mummily reveals it was supposed to take Hayato’s body but it changed its mind partway because it though felt Seita was more fun.

The world has been compromised

This chapter ends with Seita emphasizes they’ve infiltrated the world a lot more than Hayato and Inukai realizes and immediately after we get a shot of Rena’s father looking creepy. Rena’s dad being one of them is something that’s unexpected

Closure

So I loved chapter 11. There was a lot of information dumb about Mummies and the other realm and I absolutely loved that. I’m also intrigued about how far reaching is the control of these things. It’s possible they might have government positions and are embedded in various systems across the economy. This is giving me hard secret invasion vibes and I love it. If I were to rate chapter 11, I’d give it a solid 9/10.
