Beat & Motion chapter 21 is out and there’s a lot to talk about. Last chapter, it was revealed the popular J-pop singer ,Nagisa Shinohara is in fact Nico’s mother. Before all this there’s been hints about this lady and also hints suggesting Nico’s past was quite complicated. This chapter begins with Kid Nico and her Mom at a studio recording music. Nagisa listening to what she’s recorded believes there’s something wrong with it. Nico gave her mom advice and Nagisa complimented her daughter. Though Nico’s mom was a popular J-pop (Japanese Pop) star, they both decided to keep it a secret. Nico did so because she wanted to become a musician based on her own talent and not because of her mom. Nagisa on the other hand did so because she wanted her daughter, Nico to have a normal childhood.
Even though Nagisa was always busy, she would always take Nico to their favorite spot after work. They’d then eat, talk and be happy and they’d later go home together.
As Nagisa’s career started taking off, Nico spent less time with her mother. Nagisa would hardly come home because she would be on tours and interviews. Sometimes she’d ask the neighbors to check on Nico. Nico didn’t feel too bad about it because she’s watch her Mom on TV when she’s doing a live interview. Nico would also watch her mom’s concerts.
One day, she watched a performance and Nico noticed her mom was having a hard time singing. She looked strained.
Later on, her Mom got back and it was her birthday. Nico sang for her and got her a cake. Nico also told her she seems sick. You see, Nagisa communicated via writing to her daughter. This is because she wasn’t allowed to speak for a few days.
Nagisa gave Nico assurance she will be able to talk again. She just wants her throat to heal up fast and for that to happen, she has to keep quiet. Nagisa told her daughter she was suffering from a swollen throat because she sang too much.
Though Nico couldn’t hear her mom’s voice in person in a long time. She was so happy to be by her side hence she forgot about why she was worried. This is how this chapter concluded.
Chapter 22 is going to be very important because we are going to find out about Nagisa’s health issue. Based on past information, Nagisa retired meaning her health didn’t go back to its original state. This probably affected Nico which in turn made her to gradually move away from her dream which was to become a popular musician and sing alongside with her mom.
