Jinrui-shoku: Blight of Man chapter 23 is titled “Provocation”. In the cover page, there’s a lady who represents an unknown phenomenon expected to take place known as “The Eclipse”. In chapter 22, Inukai was attacked by a group of Mummified individuals. They all knew because all their minds are connected. Click here to read Jinrui-shoku: Blight of Man chapter 23.
Jinrui-shoku: Blight of Man chapter 23 starts with Seita and Tsukiko noticing a strange object in the sky (it looks like a round sphere). Tsukiko noticing this had a strange vision and it was Mummilty’s basking in the presence of this thing. Humans noticed it in the vision and it plunged them into despair. According to Tsukiko, the vision might be a “possible future”.
From what was revealed during this chapter, only Seita and Tsukiko saw it. I also believe Mummily’s noticed this object in the sky. Seita was worried about what he saw and asked his sister if she also saw it. Tsukiko accepted saying “she’s seen it before”. Tsukiko was very worried and in anger. The Mummified girl Tsukiko fought in the past believed what was in the sky would make “Tsukiko quake in her boots”.
The kids arrived at Seita’s place and they had a talk about the Mummily-san. Seita was surprised Tsukiko has encountered a Mummily but to her, there’s a huge possibility they are all over Japan. Tsukiko explained to Seita, Hayato and Kaori what she saw when she ventured into the mind of the Mummily. She tells them about their home world and how it was destroyed. She also revealed the goal of the Mummily which is the “Blight of Man”.
Tsukiko revealed the Mummily she encountered in the past (which is that woman’s lady and his girlfriend) had two different types of personalities. The personality of the alien’s collective consciousness and personalities that still retain characteristics of the people they took over. Tsukiko reveals there’s nothing they can do against the collective consciousness because it’s like an enormous computer. Attacking it carelessly might lead to disintegration with no reincarnation.
On the other hand, the people who were taken over by the Mummily are approachable. Tsukiko gave an example of the girl she faced who acted on orders received from the collective consciousness. When Tsukiko had access to this lady mind, she wanted to get more information but unfortunately, the lady ran away. Tsukiko’s goal in understanding the Mummily right now is to know its contents. This will enable the kids know more about the threat the human kind is facing.
This chapter concluded with a shot of the three-legged crow and how it might be a key. I theorize Tsukiko will try accessing the mind of the Mummily in the bird next chapter. Maybe that way, she will understand more about the “contents” of the Mummily. This chapter was a good one and I loved it, can’t wait for the next one.
