Playable characters confirmed for Saiyan and Namek saga in Dragon Ball Budokai Tenkaichi 4

Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero otherwise known as Dragon Ball Budokai Tenkaichi 4 was announced last year and there been a lot of updates since then. Some of these updates include gameplay and release date. A new update has been revealed and I know those who are excited for this game will find what I am about to say interesting.


Saiyan and Namek Saga Trailer



On July 30, 2024, Bandai Namco Entertainment released a trailer called “Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero - Saiyan & Namek Sagas Trailer”. The main highlight of this trailer was characters who will be part of these two Sagas. For those who haven’t played any Budokai Tenkaichi game in the past, a Saga is basically an arc. Under a Saga, there are several different stories still emphasizing on the arc. For instance Tien and Chiaotzu fight against Nappa is most likely going to be a different story from the fight between Goku and Vegeta Scouter even though they are part of the same saga. In other Budokai Tenkaichi games (Budokai Tenkachi 1, 2 and 3), the different stories in a saga emphasize on fights that has taken place in that arc with added cut scenes from the story so it feels more real. Each and every story has a mission. A story can have three different mission (three different fights) and most stories will have several playable characters. These missions won’t be any different from the story. In other Budokai Tenkaichi games, no matter how good you are at fighting, if you’re supposed to lose because that’s how the main story is, then that’s what happens. You simply follow orders.


Characters confirmed for Saiyan Saga


So the first Saga released in the trailer was the Saiyan Saga. Playable characters from this saga will include Goku Early, Piccolo Early, Raditz, Nappa, Saibaiman, Tien, Yamcha, Chiaotzu and Vegeta Scouter. The emphasis was on the confirmation of some characters such as Saibaiman and Chiaotzu.


Characters confirmed for Namek saga


The second Saga in the trailer was the Namek saga. Playable characters in this saga will include Cui, Dodoria, Zarbon(and super Zarbon), Nail, Frieza(Z) 1st form, Members of the Ginyu Force(Guldo, Racoome, Captain Ginyu ) Frieza(Z) 2nd form, Frieza(Z) 3rd form, Frieza(Z) 4th form, Frieza(Z) full power. It will also include Z-fighters such as Kid Gohan, Krillin, Goku (Super Saiyan), Vegeta. Characters who didn’t make it to this trailer but are confirmed are the remaining two members of the Ginyu force, Burter and Jeice as well as Picccolo.

As you can see from the trailer, the opponents each and every one faces reflect Dragon Ball’s storyline. At the end of the trailer, we got a glimpse at all characters confirmed so far for Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero or Budokai Tenkaichi 4. This included new characters revealed in this trailer such as Frieza’s forms, Saibaiman etc. Golden Frieza was also confirmed. Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero will be available on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC with the launch set for October 11, 2024.
