Bluey is an Australian animated TV series created by Joe Brumm. Airing on October 1, 2018, and having over 150 episodes, the story focuses on the life of a young puppy. It’s a wholesome story that also explores family and social life with Bluey being the center of it all. One question that has puzzled fans who follow this animated series is Bluey’s gender. Fans are uncertain about whether Bluey is a Boy or a Girl. This article will reveal information about Bluey’s gender and when it was confirmed in the animated Series.


Is Bluey a Boy


Bluey is usually considered a boy by fans but that is not the case. Blue is not a boy and people just assumed Bluey’s gender. This is most likely because Bluey is a dog that sounds like a boy. Another reason might be because of Bluey’s skin color. You see, Bluey has a blue skin tone similar to Bandit (Bluey’s dad) so fans assumed Bluey is a boy. Bluey’s Mom (Chilli) and Sister (Bingo) have more of a Brownish skin tone. This similarity along with the ambiguity of the character made fans believe Bluey was boy.


Why Bluey is a Girl


The first proof confirming Bluey is a girl is her pronoun. In some episodes of the animated series, Bluey is referred to as “She” meaning Bluey is a girl. It is easy for fans to miss this though because it is not mentioned in all episodes. This just happens from time-to-time during the show.

The second proof confirming Bluey is a girl is the most important. In Season 2 Episode 46 of the series (The Double Babysitter) episode. Bluey mentions that she’s a girl. In order to confirm this, you can go watch the Double Babysitter episode in Bluey were Bandit and Chilli went out leaving the kids with Uncle Rad and Frisky. The writers basically used this episode to answer a question that has been in the minds of fans for a long time.


Closure


When it comes to TV animation, characters such as Bluey can easily be misgendered by fans but the creators often give out hints telling fans the truth. In the case of Bluey, it is no surprise fans were confused about her identity.
