Rena's father Jinrui-shoku: Blight of Man

Jinrui-shoku: Blight of Man chapter 12 has finally been released after we got so much information about the Mummily in chapter 11. It was revealed they can transfer from one body to another, they are from another realm and when someone dies of Mummification in the human realm, another one of these entities get safe passage from crossing the dimensional rift. Chapter 12 is titled “Backup” starting off where chapter 11 left off.

Rena's Dad

So last chapter, it was revealed by the Mummily in Seita’s body the extent they’ve taken over the world is great. This chapter started off with a conversation between Rena and her dad. Rena’s dad interrogated her about what happened when her classmate turned into a Mummy. Rena is upset and because his priorities aren’t straight. She later got an email revealing her dad is a fake. I don’t know if she believes it or not but I think it’s going to be hard for her to believe it because it’s her dad after all.

Fake Seita's deal

At the park, Hayato and Inukai are still confronting the possessed Seita. Seita once again spoke about how they infiltrated this world but this time he made emphasis on the center of human society. This part really got my attention because it’s now confirmed these things might have great political positions in society meaning these foes will be a huge problem. The possessed Seita threatens to kill Kaori if they don’t let him have Seita’s body forever. This thing also gave another option and it was for it to go in Kaori’s body and let Seita’s body go. Remember, these things can move across bodies. This entity thinks the second is the best so Hayato and Seita can be buddies again with no issue. It went on saying it will become Kaori hence her body will retain her memories, personality and her feelings/memories of her classmates. This means when these things take over the human body, that body still retains all its attributes that make that person unique compared to others. This is yet another major reveal. Seita (the eye on Hayato’s forehead) is also upset.

Inukai's plan

Inukai accepts the deal which was like a slap on Hayato and Seita’a (the real one in Hayato) faces telling the “thing” in Seita’s body to do it quick. There’s a flashback of the team discussing their plans before the initial park meet-up. First, Inukai spoke about Hayato holding or restraining fake Seita (possessed Seita) so he can observe it. Secondly, Inukai revealed he called a backup in order to chase this thing in Seita’s body.

Looking back at the transfer process from Hayato’s mom to Seita, Inukai thought they just need a replacement for Seita. I personally think its brilliant except for the assumption that the thing in Seita’s body is dumb. Inukai said once trapped in the cage he set, he will torment and study it for the rest of its life. Inukai spoke about how this plan heavily relies on Luck which is 100% valid. Seita (the real one) recalling the plan thinks Inukai will use Kaori as a replacement but he didn’t.

The Replacement

Jinrui-shoku: Blight of Man

Seita was worried during the process. In his case, he had Hayato’s body to jump into during this process but he believes Kaori soul will be lost forever. Hayato is also really worried. They plan on attacking but during the process, a bird comes down taking away fake Seita’s eyes and there’s this dark aura to it meaning it’s possible the eyes play a major factor in the transfer process. Also before this thing tried to move from Seita’s to Kaori’s body, it looked directly at her eyes. This means this bird is the replacement.

Closure

Reading this chapter, I loved it. I have so many questions and assumptions. I really want to know if these things can take over animals. Inukai spoke about the lifespan of these things so I also wonder how long these things live or about the ecosystem they thrive in. I don’t also know if this is the same bird that spoke to Kaori in the past or if it’s a human. This chapter was easily a 9/10 and I just can’t wait for the next one. I’m genuinely curious about where Sasazuka is in all of this. He might actually be the bird.
