Twitter Circle

Twitter(X) Circles is a means which enables users to select a subgroup of followers to receive particular posts. Interaction is based on users who are part of a particular Circle with exclusion being those who are not part of the Circle. X formally known as Twitter will be removing Circles as of October 31st 2023. Though Circles isn’t a popular feature on, some still rely on it but X team along with Elon Musk revealed they are doing this for a good purpose.

X's new update about Circles

Twitter Circle

This information was released on the X platform some few days back with header “About Circles”

“X is deprecating circles as of Oct31st, 2023. After this date, you will not be able to create new posts that are limited to your circle, nor will you be able to add people to your circle. You will, however be able to remove people from your circle, by unfollowing them as described below.”

Why the removal

According to Elon Musk, they are doing this in favor of improved communities and DM group chat. Another reason for the removal of Circles is that they were difficult for the X team to upkeep. This is because they frequently break and allow people outside ones Circle to see post hence disabling Circles will remove another layer of complexity to the X system.

How to remove people from your Circle

X also released a guideline of how to remove people from your Circle;

-Log in to X

-Go to the account that is in your Circles and unfollow them

-They will no longer be in your Circle. They can no longer see your past Circle posts.

-Follow them again, if you wish, they will be added to your Circle

Closure

With the removal of Circles, the X team is rapidly improving group DMs and communities which will replace the main functionalities of Circles.
