Beat & Motion reveals how Tatsuhiko animation is received at the Anime Awards Festival

Tatsuhiko Beat & Motion

Beat & Motion chapter 36 has been released and there’s a lot to talk about. I will talk about chapter 35 so this is going to be a review/recap of two chapters. Both of these chapters emphasized on the screening of Tatsuhiko’s work at the Anime Awards. There were lots of important details revealed which is going to have an impact as the story goes on. Anime Award Screening


Beat & Motion chapter 35 followed the events of previous chapters. In this chapter, we see Nico and Tatsuhiko on an outing. Tatsuhiko took Nico to for the screening of his animation project. Kensuke and the others did not show up because Kensuke’s concert is the same day.


Tatsuhiko is Nervous


Our two protagonists arrived at the theater and even though Nico was so excited, Tatsuhiko wasn’t because the population made him nervous. Tatsuhiko and Nico came in contact with Akame at the theatre. Nabari on the other hand plan on attending only the award ceremony because he’s uncomfortable at Screenings. This information is important because it sheds more light on Nabari’s character trait.


Why Tatsuhiko was Nervous

They all took sits for the Anime Award Festival. It was also revealed during the opening announcement that this was the 12th year celebrating this award Ceremony. Tatsuhiko was nervous and tense during the opening announcements. He was worried because people might not like his animation video and they might murmur or gossip close to him taking into account it’s a full house event and there are people from all domains in life at the theatre including celebrities. Tatsuhiko and Nico both sat at the middle so he can’t just leave. Tatsuhiko’s “I wanna see the Ocean” animation video is also the first which makes things much more complicated for him.


Anime Award Stats and Details


It was revealed the Anime Award Competition had 953 entries which was narrowed down to 35 finalists. This is the third slot consisting of 10 finalists. What this means is the event was three days long, each day was a slot and had 10 or more finalists in these slots. Day 3 is the most important day because after the screening of the final slot consisting of 10 finalists, there’s an award ceremony. This chapter concluded with Nico comforting Tatsuhiko by saying “The days where you’re nervous are the best days”.


Tatsuhiko’s perspectives


Tatsuhiko animation Beat & Motion

Beat & Motion chapter 36 emphasized on Tatsuhiko’s emotions during the screening of his work. When this animation was on the big screen, Tatsuhiko saw his work from two different perspectives (the creator of his work and as an audience watching someone else’s work). With those perspectives, he watched his work on the big screen taking note of all his problems that needed fixing but despite these problems, he thought the work was good.


Tatsuhiko’s Motivation


Watching his work made him recall the past and his ambitions of becoming a recognized person in society. He also figured out how to differentiate his motivation, whether he had the feeling of wanting to be someone just to catch up to Nico who is already recognized or the feeling of wanting to do good work.


Why Nabari didn't attend Screening

At the end of the screening, the crowd applauded. Nico congratulated Tatsuhiko but he promised to make something better the next time they work together. Tatsuhiko, Nico and Akame went out of the building after the screening were they met Nabari. They complimented each other. Nico complimented Nabari’s film asking why he didn’t come. It turns out Nabari had a bad stomach ache the last time he had a preview screening and this was caused by stress.


Awards to be given out


They proceeded to another building for the award ceremony. They were given name tags. Guests were expected to sit on the second floor meanwhile those who participated in the competition sat at the first floor. Although there were 35 finalists, only 5 awards would be given out but Tatsuhiko is content he got nominated in case he doesn’t win. This chapter concluded with the start of the award ceremony of Japan’s 12th Annual Anime awards.


Closure


This screening event shed more light on the personality traits of some characters. It turns out Nabari isn’t all anger. He’s also nervous and he cannot hide it. Nico is really supporting. We also got a glimpse of how Tatsuhiko sees things. To me, the most important aspect of this screening was revealing the full names of all characters. It was fascinating. We have Tatsuhiko Hirayama, Nico Kashiwagi (I already knew about Kashiwagi), Kazuya Akame, Ren Nabari, Kensuke Iwata, Hayate Ishigami, Ikuo Yamashita. Kensuke, Hayate and Ikuo are Tatsuhiko’s childhood band mate so they might be important in the future. There was a character whose animation made headlines, a name wasn’t given but he might be important in the future. It was at the start of chapter 35.
