Fortnite to Go Offline Globally on All iOS Devices After Apple Ban

The Fortnite x The Walking Dead Universe Islands is going to be accessible to users starting today as part of Fortnite v35.10 update. This enables Fortnite creators to build their own custom Walking dead-themed islands. These islands can be customized depending on the creator and other players can visit these Islands fighting Zombies. Despite the great news, there is unfortunate news for Fortnite IOS fans which will be talked about in this article.


Epic's Feud with Apple


New Information from Fortnite suggests IOS users won’t have access to Fortnite. This is because Fortnite has been blocked by Apple. Fortnite was remove from the IOS App store in August 2020 because Epic Games went against Apple’s policy about commission on in-game purchases by adding a direct payment option inside the app (bypassing Apple’s 30% commission). Since then, there’s been a court battle between Epic Games and Apple with Epic coming out on top although Fortnite wasn’t acvailable on the App Store


Fortnite banned from iOS


According to Epic CEO Tim Sweeney, Epic submitted Fortnite for review on iOS on May 9, 2025 as an attempt to bring back Fortnite in the Apple App Store before v35.10 update but unfortunately for Epic Games, Fortnite and Fortnite IOS users, the resubmission was blocked meaning Fortnite fans won’t be able to get the game of Apple App Store globally.
Fortnite revealed this information recently on a post on X saying:

“Apple has blocked our Fortnite submission so we cannot release to the US App Store or to the Epic Games Store for iOS in the European Union. Now, sadly, Fortnite on iOS will be offline worldwide until Apple unblocks it.”


To summarize the message above, it basically suggest Epic tried to resubmit Fortnite to Apple App Store in the US and Epic Games store for iOS in the EU but Apple blocked the submission (including upcoming updates) so Fortnite will go offline globally until Apple unblocks the App


Closure


Apple’s confrontation with Epic Games will not end anytime soon. This is taking into account that this issue has persisted for five years now. In fact, this problem has become worse now because it’s not only US and EU users but Fortnite on iOS is going offline worldwide.
