‘OOF’ Returns to Roblox. Why did Roblox Remove the OOF Sound

Roblox just recently announced the ‘OOF’ sound effect will be returning to the game meaning users will be able to use the sound effect once more. The OOF sound is a short sound effect that plays when a Roblox character dies, falls or is eliminated. It’s an old sound that was introduced way back in 2006 so many long-term Roblox players have an idea about the sound. The sound was later removed but new information suggests OOF Roblox sound effect is back in Roblox. This article will give details on why the sound effect was removed and also provide the link OOF Roblox sound effect.


What is OOF


‘OOF’ Roblox sound effect was introduced in 2006 but Roblox didn’t create the sound effect. It was created by Tommy Tallarico who is a video game composer for a game called “Messiah”. Roblox used this sound effect for years but in 2020, Tommy Tallarico claimed the rights to the sound effect. On July 2022, the OOF sound effect was removed from Roblox because of licensing issues (Tommy claiming the rights to the sound). This sound was replaced with a ‘pop’ sound for deaths. Since then, Roblox players have wondered if the OOF sound will ever return or when it will be returning.


OOF Returns to Roblox


Fortunately for fans, the OOF sound has been confirmed for Roblox. It’s July 2025, precisely 3 years after the sound was removed and the OOF sound has once again returned to Roblox. This information was revealed by Roblox’s official X account. Roblox did so revealing a short teaser of a Roblox character dying with the OOF sound effect playing in the background. The OOF Roblox sound effect has comeback after 3 years of removal. This most likely means Roblox has solved the licensing issues regarding the rights of the OOF sound effect which is good.
