Scissor Seven: Where to Watch the Hit Chinese Anime & What It’s About

Scissor Seven, also known as Wu Liugi is a Chinese animated series that follows the story of Seven,
a barber who can telekinetically control scissors. The series has amazing animation with fights very similar to anime, comedy and also good storytelling. The series got engagement because of all the virtues mentioned above. It has a huge following but newcomers might not know a lot about the show. This article is going to highlight on what Scissor Seven is about and Where to watch it
What is Scissor Seven About
Scissor Seven is a popular Chinese Donghua (animated series). The show begins with a character known as Seven in a remote location/Country known as Chicken Island. Seven works as a barber at the Dai Bo J hair salon and he has amnesia. Seven has the dream of becoming a professional assassin but as the show progresses, it’s revealed he has a very dark past as the story progresses. Seven has support of Dai Bo who is a Farm raised Blue Feather Chicken and Xiao Fei (Dai Bo’s nephew who is half blue feather chicken and half pigeon).
Scissor Seven Characters
Seven takes on several assassin tasks where he encounters people he formed close bonds with such as Cola, Meow Kitty, Uncle Chen, Chairman Jiang, the Prince of Stan and much more. Another very important character introduced is Thirteen. As the story progresses, fans learn more about Sevens dark history (including how he gets amnesia, where he comes from and how powerful he is). What makes Scissor Seven is special is that other characters are also developed and not abandoned. An example is Chairman Jiang who becomes one of my favorite Scissor Seven characters by the Fourth Season even though I didn’t pay too much attention to her in Season 1. There’s so much lore and this help the character progression of multiple characters even though they’re not the protagonists. Each and every character mentioned above gets episodes or arcs dedicated to them which is amazing.
Scissor Seven's worldbuilding
Aside from Characters, Scissor Seven has great worldbuilding. The World in Scissor Seven is made up of three great forces or three main countries. This includes Xuanwu (Kung Fu masters), Stan (Well Known For their Technology) and Commoners.
The People of Xianwu believe in Martial arts. They are well known for their impressive Kung Fu skills. There’s so much lore as the Country is filled with some of the greatest Assassins known to mankind. The Country is also made up of sects such as the Plum Blossom sect and White Lily sect adding to the lore.
The Stanians might look weak but they as a civilization have progressed because of Science. The Stanians are well known for their Intelligence and their advancement in Science. They can invent all types of high-end weapons and they believe technology is the strongest weapon. The Stanians are the archenemy of Xuanwu. Other Countries were introduced later on such as the Superpower Country made up of people with superpowers making everything more interesting.
Art and Animation
In terms of animation and art, Scissor Seven is a 2D show that has really good animation and a consistent artstyle. Scissor Seven also has top tier fights as it never disappoints. The fights in the show are similar to anime fights then when you add the lore with people having different powers, gadgets and more, it becomes a spectacle. Each and every Season has really good fight involving different characters because the story doesn’t only focus on Seven but also on other characters side as Thirteen and even the Prince of Stan.
Where to watch Scissor Seven
Scissor Seven is a Chinese show so it’s usually available in Chine first before being accessible to international users. Chinese streaming platforms where it can be viewed include Bilibili, iQIYI and Tencent Video. The series is ahead in these platforms but it will require a Chinese IP address, VPN and English subtitles won’t be available.
International viewers can watch Scissor Seven on Netflix with English subtitles available. This is the preferred platform for watching Scissor Seven. Now the downside to watching the show on Netflix is that viewers are usually behind. What this means is people who watch the show (Chinese viewers) on Bilibili might be one or two seasons ahead of those who watch on Netflix but it can’t be helped if getting access to Chinese platforms is a problem.
Closure
Scissor Soccer is an animated Chinese show filled with so much lore, amazing characters, and engaging fight scenes. The show can be viewed on Chinese streaming platforms but Netflix is the preferred platform for international viewers because of easy accessibility and the addition of English subtitles.
