DramaBox Subscription Isn’t Worth It for Everyone

Dramabox is a streaming platform that’s well known for short form Asian dramas and mobile appeal. Its subscription seems affordable and easy to access at first glance but most users come to discover that its pricing structure is complicated. This complication stems from its weekly billing, additional in-app purchases and automatic renewals, hence its total cost can be really high when you add it up. This article is going to reveal the cost of DramaBox subscription, why it may not be worth in for everyone, and how to cancel it if you or need to. I also want to add that Dramabox can be used for free (although limited) but this article is going to emphasize on its subscription.

What is Dramabox and How Does it’s Subscription Work

Dramabox is a streaming service that specializes in short form Asian dramas be it k-drama (Korean drama), C-drama (Chinese drama), Japanese dramas and others. It rose to popularity because of its mobile appeal and because it’s easy to access. The platform is can be accessed on Android, iOS, and even the web. Users can also subscribe to Dramabox via platforms like Google Play, the Apple App Store, and other payment systems depending on your region. Dramabox has a subscription service but it’s not really straightforward. This is because Dramabox has a standard subscription and a coin system where viewers get coins to unlock some episodes. This combination makes subscription more complex compared to other streaming services such as Netflix because users won’t clearly understand what they’re paying for.

The Cost of Dramabox subscription

Dramabox subscription is confusing because it varies depending on the plan and your region. Many people join the platform expecting a simple monthly subscription plan but the service promotes weekly subscription plans. Lots of users have reported a weekly VIP pricing of around $17.99 - $19.99 per week in app stores. Some listings also show monthly membership options and promotional offers around $9.99 to $22.99 so it honestly just depends. This is why I made mention of how it varies. It’s not like Netflix or HBO. Dramabox also includes Coin Purchases to unlock specific episodes even after you subscribe. This is complex because it has a layered pricing model where the total cost is not immediately clear. I made mention of the Coin system in my other article about how free Dramabox really is. Many users have reported thinking they signed up for monthly plans only to realize they were billed weekly so it might be low cost when looking at things from a “straight” perspective but it’s not.

Why Dramabox’s Subscription Isn’t Worth It for Everyone

DramaBox’s subscription may appeal to fans who like short form Asian dramas but it’s not ideal for everyone. One major issue it faces is a confusing pricing model which combines weekly subscriptions with optional coin purchases making it difficult for users to track how much they are actually spending. Another concern is that paying for a subscription does not always guarantee full access to all content. I made mention of how some episodes can still require additional purchases in the name of a “coin system” and this can negatively affects a viewer’s experience. On top of all this subscriptions renew automatically which increases the risk of unwanted charges if you don’t cancel it on time. Dramabox can be enjoyable for dedicated viewers of short form Asian Dramas but a confusing pricing model can be a turn off to some people. Dramabox might not be worth it If you’re also short on budget. Everything everywhere is becoming expensive so money counts a lot especially for people with families to take care of.

How to Cancel Dramabox Subscription

Cancelling Dramabox subscription depends on how you originally subscribed. This means if you subscribed through Google play then you have to cancel through Google play. This is a no-brainer but it should be mentioned.

For Android users, go to Google Play Store app, go to payments and subscriptions, select DramaBox and Cancel the subscription. Just follow the prompt you see on screen to confirm the cancellation.

For iPhone users, go to settings and tap your Apple ID. Go to subscriptions and select Dramabox then Cancel the subscription. You just need to confirm the cancellation after that.

If you subscribed through the website through PayPal, log in to your PayPal, go to Manage Automatic payments (or Manage payments), and look for DramaBox and Cancel. If cancellation doesn’t work then you can contact Dramabox support for assistance.

There are other ways to cancel Dramabox subscription but I mentioned those three because it’s what lots of people are familiar with. As for tips, you should cancel Dramabox at least 24 hours before the next billing cycle. You should also check your email if you’ve gotten any message from Dramabox about the cancellation

What Happens After You Cancel Dramabox Subscription

You should still retain access to your Dramabox until the end of your current billing period. This means if your subscription renews weekly on monthly, you can still watch content until that cycle expires even though the auto renewal has stopped. Most subscription cancellations don’t also include automatic refunds. As mentioned above, you should always check for an email confirmation of cancellation from the platform be it Google Play, the App store or PayPal to ensure that the request is processed correctly. You can also review your bank statement to make sure you’re not being charged.

Is Dramabox Subscription Worth It?

Whether DramaBox subscription is worth it or not depends on your viewing habits and tolerance for its cost structure. Dramabox is worth it if you regularly watch short form Asian dramas and you understand the billing cycle and potential coin system for content. On the other hand, DramaBox isn’t worth it if you want a simple and monthly pricing, you dislike automatic renewal subscriptions or its coin system, and you watch episodes occasionally or you only want some few episodes. The value of Dramabox honestly deals less on content and more on how well you can understand its pricing policy. Draambox is free so you can still watch content without subscribing.

Closure

Dramabox gives people access to short form Asian dramas but its pricing model and subscription can be confusing. This is because of its Billing cycles, coin requirements and automatic renewals which can lead to unexpected costs if not monitored carefully. Some viewers may find value in its service but others may feel that it not worth it. You should understand its real cost before you subscribe. I hope this article will help you make that decision even though the best lesson comes from experience.
