Several brand over the span on two months have dropped advertisement on X. Some include Walmart, Apple, Disney, Paramount, Lionsgate, IBM, Comcast/NBC Universal, and The European Commission. This is because of Elon Musk controversial Tweet supporting an anti-Semitic post. To fully understand the context of what’s happening, click here. Because of this, most Western brands didn’t like Elon pushing this narrative so they stopped advertising on the platform.
Elon Musk attended several conferences and Q&A’s trying to solve this issue. He held his stance sometimes asking his haters to “Go F**k Yourself” during an Interview with the New York Times DealBook on November 29. Elon Musk later apologized though the issue wasn’t instantly resolved as other brands kept dropping after the apology such as Walmart. Things are starting to change for the better. Based on the information circulating on the internet, Netflix has resumed advertisement on X. This information was revealed by an X spokesman to TheWarp.
Last Month, New York Times confirmed Netflix halted nearly $3 million worth of ads but recently, Netflix has been seen advertising shows such as “Maestro” on the platform. There were other advertisement media by Netflix on the platform which prompted the idea of Netflix resuming ads on the platform. Other brands presumed to have dropped X as an advertisement medium must’ve also resumed advertisement of the platform but it has not been confirmed like Netflix.
This information was confirmed when an X Spokesman confirmed to TheWarp Netflix has resumed its ads operation in the popular platform. This is a major turning point for the platform because it won’t lose as much as it was previously anticipated. X was expected to lose billions because of brands dropping the platform in 2023. The Value of the Social Media platform has already dropped considerably after Musk’s purchase. X, formally known as Twitter was purchased for $44 billion but as of the moment, it is worth $19 billion which is a 55% drop in barely a year after purchase. From a business standpoint, this isn’t good. This situation was so bad Elon Musk had to emphasize on how X is the only social media platform with credible information that hasn’t been bought.
