In Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream, players can unlock characters by progressing through the story chapters or completing boss raids meanwhile additional Characters such as Strea, Sachi and Philia are only available through paid DLC expansions. Unlocking characters in the game adds to a player’s roster of already existing characters. This basically means a greater variety of Sword Art Online characters to choose from when playing the game. How to Unlock Characters in Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream


In Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream has a roster of over 20 characters but players do not start with all 20+ characters. There are some characters that are available from the start such as Kirito and Asuna but most characters are unlocked over time. Characters are unlocked in this game through the Story Progression, Boss Raids and Special Conditions/Events.

Story Progression is the first way to Unlock Characters in SAO fractured daydream. This is done by completing main chapters in the game. Unlockable characters based on story progression usually involve cutscenes or major boss fights. Another way to Unlock Characters in this game is through Boss raids and Special conditions (including challenges and completing achievements). In order to get some characters, players need to complete specific boss raids. Clearing a boss raid might unlock a side quest that leads to a new character.

Players have access to some characters at the beginning of the game. These characters include Kirito, Asuna, Leafa, Agil, Argo and Quinella. Quinella’s case is unique because some player get her at the beginning of the game meanwhile others get her after completing chapters related to Alicization. Sinon is Unlocked after Chapter 3 around the time when co-op becomes available.

The other characters which include Eugeo, Alice, Yuuki, Klein, Lisbeth, Silica, Llenn, Fukaziroh, Oberon, Eiji, Yuna, Yui, Death Gun and Heathcliff are unlocked through story progression and boss fights. Most of them are unlocked from Chapter 3-4. By the end of Chapter 4, most players should have unlocked all characters. Characters such as Sachi and Philia who are part of DLC 3(Worlds Beyond III: Moonlit Fragments) can be acquired by purchasing Character Pass Vol. 2 for around $29.99USD. This DLC can be downloaded from the store (Steam, PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store or Nintendo eShop). Install the DLC after download and launch the game.

Boss Raids Explained in Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream


Boss raids is an important mode in Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream. This is because these raids help in unlocking characters and progressing through the game. A Boss Raid is a multiplayer PvE (Player vs. Environment) mode. Players form teams of up to 20 and work together to defeat an enemy. This mode with the addition of crossplay means the game's server is always active.

Some Bosses in Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream include illfang the Kobold Lord who is popularly known for switching weapons in the middle of a fight forcing players to adapt, Skull Reaper who I extremely fast and lethal that forces players to dodge attacked often, Sword Golem is another boss known for smashing through defenses and Trommel, a boss that resembles a dragon that uses wide area attacks.

After completing boss raids, players get rewards such as Unlocking characters as some character unlocks are tied to some specific bosses. Players also earn raid currency which is used to get rare gears. Players also collect enhanced materials during these raids which helps in getting new weapons and avatars.


How to Unlock Strea in Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream


Strea is one of the most popular additions in Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream. She’s an original character from Sword Art Online Hollow Fragment so anime fans would not know who she is. She is popular because of her two-handed sword technique. Strea isn’t unlocked through story progression or boss raids because she’s a DLC character.

Strea was the first DLC released in the game called “Worlds Beyond I - A Moment of Infinity”. This paid expansion was available on October 17, 2024 bringing Strea to the game. The standalone DLC pack costs around $4.99 USD o platforms like Steam. The Character Pass Vol. 1 DLC pack includes DLC 1(Strea) and DLC 2 plus exclusive costumes, stamps, weapons and a card background priced at $24.99 USD.

Fans can get Strea by either buying the Standalone DLC 1 or getting the Character Pass Vol. 1. In order to get her, go to your platforms store (Steam, PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, or Nintendo eshop) and find the add-ons for Fractured Daydream. Then simple download and install the DLC content. Once installed, launch the game and access Strea via the DLC or Story menu. Strea’s mission or Unlock option will appear on screen. In Strea’s DLC story, Kirito and his allies investigate a monster activity in the forest where they come across Strea. Strea claims to know Kirito from another world and that’s how a connection is formed with both of them becoming friends/allies.

Most characters are unlocked through story progression so by the end of the games campaign. Almost all characters should be unlocked.
