Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) is a poplar 5v5 MOBA from Mooton that’s played by millions across the globe. A common question some players ask regarding this game is whether they can play with friends from other regions. MLBB is region based so matchmaking is generally tied to regional servers but you can still play with friends on other servers with limitations like a higher ping and occasional matchmaking restrictions. This article is going to reveal how to download Mobile Legends: Bang Gang, how servers work in the game, how to play with friends from different regions, and warnings about the limits of doing so.
Open Google Play Store, Search for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, confirm the developer is Moonton and the tap Install. The Play store listings show the official app and notes including in-app purchases and minimum age requirements.
Open the Apple App Store, search Mobile Legends: Bang Bang , tap Get, and authenticate the download with your Apple ID or Face/Touch ID if required. The App Store page lists screenshots, reviews, and the official publisher details.
The Game file size of MLBB and required extra downloads vary by update and device so you should expect in-game data download after the initial install. You can use a stable Wi-Fi connection for the download to avoid unnecessary data charges and to speed up the process. You can create or link your account (Moonton account, Google account, Facebook account, or Apple ID) to save progress and secure your profile.
MLBB automatically assigns each player to a regional server when the game is first installed. This assignment is mainly based on your geographical location and network routing. This helps the game connect you to the nearest and most stable servers. Regions in MLBB include Southeast Asia (SEA), Europe, Africa, and North and South America.
Matchmaking in MLBB is server based meaning most players you encounter are from the same or nearby regions. This system is designed to reduce lag, high ping, and unfair gameplay situations, especially in competitive matches. Mobile legends does not provide a manual option to choose or switch servers as server placement is handled automatically by the game to ensure smoother performance and balanced matches.
Mobile legends allows players to play with friends from other regions even though matchmaking itself is based on your region but there are some limitations. You can add friends from different servers using their Friend ID or through the games Friend list, then invite them to join your Lobby. Once invited, you can play together in modes such as Classic, Custom, and in some cases Ranked Mode depending on current matchmaking conditions.
MLBB unfortunately doesn’t support global or automatic cross-server play. There is no cross server toggle and random matchmaking is region locked. This means the match usually runs on one server (the hosts region) when playing with friends from other regions. As a result of this, players connecting from farther regions may experience higher ping or lag which can affect gameplay performance.
To do this, open MLBB on your device and tap the Friends icon from the main lobby. Add your friend using their Player ID or in-game name. Once your friend accepts the request, open your Friend list and Invite your friend to your lobby. Play with your newly added friend on supported game modes such as Classic or Custom. Ranked mode may work but it depends on conditions.
This has already been mentioned above but I just want to repeat it again. When playing across regions, the match usually runs on one server and it’s often the hosts region. Because of this, players connecting from faraway regions may notice lag, delayed skill activation, or slower response times. Voice chat can also have slight delays.
High Ping in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang can affect skill shots, movement accuracy, and reaction time. Match quality also depends heavily on Internet stability and distance from the server. Using VPN in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is not recommended because it can increase latency, it may cause connection instability and can also risk account or matchmaking issues. Competitive and ranked gameplay perform best on your local server where ping is at its lowest and matches are more balanced.
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is easy to download and designed around regional servers for smooth gameplay. Even though matchmaking is based on your region, you can still play with friends from other regions by inviting them directly. However, there is no true cross-server matchmaking and lag may occur depending on distance. To get the best experience, you can enjoy cross regional play casually and save competitive matches for your local server.
