Many players research on how to make a new character in MapleStory Idle RPG expecting the same system found in classic MapleStory or other RPG’s where you can create multiple characters and switch classes. MapleStory Idle RPG handles character creation very differently. MapleStory Idle RPG doesn’t have several character slots as the game is built around a single main character that’s tied to your progression. This can lead to confusion especially when players regret their early choices and want to experiment on another build. This article is going to explain why you can’t create multiple characters in MapleStory Idle RPG, What players mean when they talk about a “new character” and how to create new characters if you want to.

How Character Creation Works in MapleStory Idle RPG

In MapleStory Idle RPG, players begin with one character per server (account) rather than multiple character slots. When you create this character and start progressing this character, you will be asked to choose a class which defines this character’s combat style, skills and growth. Once everything is selected (created character and class), the decision becomes permanent. MapleStory Idle RPG is different from other traditional Maple titles because it doesn’t allow class change, class resets or additional servers on the same server. In short, all progression systems be it gear upgrades, relics, power scaling, idle rewards is directly tied to the single character you create which is why choosing the wrong class for your character can be problematic.

Why People Look to Create a New Character

MapleStory players ask about new character options in MapleStory Idle RPG after realizing they want to try a different class or play style. Others come from playing different MapleStory games or MMORPGs where creating alternate characters is normal and expected. So when people come from other MapleStory games to MapleStory Idle RPG and they can’t easily create new characters, they assume that they missed something even though that’s not the case. The issue isn’t a player misunderstanding but it’s how MapleStory Idle RPG was designed when compared to other MapleStory games.

Can You Make a New Character in MapleStory Idle RPG?

In a traditional sense (when looking at other MapleStory games), the answer is no. MapleStory does not allow players to add a second character slot of the same server and it also doesn’t offer a way to reset or change a characters class once it’s been chosen. This means the game treats your single character as your entire progression for that server with all upgrades and rewards tied to it permanently. However, players can still restart the game if they want a brand new experience but this means you lose everything related to your past progression. It’s essentially restarting the game in a “blank slate” with no access to your past progressions. So it’s limiting in some ways when compared to other MMORPGs or MapleStory titles.

How to Make a New Character in MapleStory Idle RPG

You can’t add a new character on the same server (account) but there’s a way to create a new character in MapleStory Idle RPG through the games server selection and login options. The first step is to exit to the games main login page where you first see the server selection. Once you’re in the login screen, look for the globe icon (it’s usually beside the server or world name). Tap the globe icon so its lets you choose a different server from the list. If there’s a toggle to filter servers with existing characters, turn it off so you can see all available worlds. You need to choose a different server (World) that’s different from your current one. Once you do this, you start a new progression which leads to creating a new character from scratch.

If you want more than one character across different servers in the game, you can log in to the game with separate accounts be it Google, Facebook etc. This way you can have different characters and classes in different accounts. It’s very reliable. This method and the other above means you character start at level 1 with no gear, progression or relics carried over because it’s a full restart.

When Starting Over Is (and Isn’t) Worth It in MapleStory Idle RPG

Starting over can make sense when you’re in the early stages of the game and you hate the class you chose. When you are at a low level in the game, progression is fast so restarting takes less time and effort because you can easily catch up. You can also restart if you want to experience a different play style from the beginning. Restarting MapleStory Idle RPG isn’t worth it if you’ve gone far and invested a lot in the game be it on upgrades or gear progression. The only reason that can make people decide to restart after investing is bad class choice but you can still optimize an existing characters. Nevertheless, your class really matters and it’s a major factor.

Common Misconceptions about New characters

The first misunderstanding most people make is assuming class can be changed once selected but that’s not the case. Secondly, another misconception is the assumption that the game allows multiple characters on the same server like the Classic MapleStory but that’s not the case.

You can’t truly create multiple characters in MapleStory Idle RPG the way many players expect i.e. on the same server or account. What most people call “new character” is actually a full restart on a new server or account. It’s important you know how the game works so you make the right decisions. Making the right decision helps you avoid unnecessary restarts so you can enjoy the game to its fullest.
