Changing Servers in MapleStory Idle RPG Isn’t Easy

Many players join MapleStory Idle RPG to play with friends only to realize their friends are playing on a different server. You can’t play with close friends if they’re on different servers and this is the problem. Its not easy to give up your progress and start over just to change your server. The first instinct to resolve this issue is to switch servers but it’s not so simple in this game. Unlike other mobile games, the ability to switch servers in MapleStory Idle RPG isn’t straightforward and may not even be possible after you start playing. This leads to frustration especially for new MapleStory Idle RPG players. This article is going to explain whether you can change servers in MapleStory Idle RPG, why the game restricts it, and what you can realistically do if you picked the wrong one.


Can You Change Severs in MapleStory Idle RPG


MapleStory Idle RPG does not offer a built-in option that lets you transfer your character between servers as of right now. Once you create a character in a specific server (world), your progress will be tied to that server. It isn’t easy to change servers in MapleStory Idle RPG because you’d need to create a brand new character to do this. As of right now there’s no official account feature that allows you to move your account, items, or progress to another server but that might change in the future. Servers act as separate environments in MapleStory Idle RPG so players on different servers can’t interact, trade or play together. This isn’t exclusive to MapleStory Idle RPGs as it applies to lots of other online RPGs. An example of this is Honkai: Star Rail. I’m In the American server but most of my friends are in the European server in Honkai: Star Rail so I know I’m missing out on a lot of fun interactions.


How Servers Work in MapleStory Idle RPG


Servers (also referred to as Worlds) in MapleStory Idle RPG are used to separate players in different regions and gameplay environments. These servers are designed to reduce lag, improve performance and also organize player communities. Servers are linked to different regions in the game such as Asia, Europe, or North America and you need to select one. Once you choose your server, your character data and progression is stored within that specific server. Servers can also be automatically assigned when you start playing if you don’t manually choose your server. Unfortunately, players on different servers cannot party together or interact in shared activities because it’s like they are different unreachable worlds.


Why You Can’t Change Servers in MapleStory Idle RPG


There are some reasons why you can’t change servers in MapleStory Idle RPG. The first reason is because player progression in the game is tied your server. This means that everything during your gameplay (be it character level, or items) are all tied to a specific database and moving this data between servers is a very difficult task. The second reason you can’t change servers is because server transfers help maintain game balance. Switching servers could disrupt rankings, and the systems put in place by its game developers. Finally, Maplestory Idle RPG is designed for long term progression within a single server. This is pretty much common with most online RPGs so this shouldn’t be a problem.




What You Can Do Instead


MapleStory Idle RPG does not allow server change or transfer. If you don’t like your server, you can always create a new character on the server where your friends are playing. Creating a new character means restarting the game. You can also join parties, trade and participate in events. My advice is that you try to join a European server. From my experience with lots of online RPG, Europeans are much more welcoming. European servers in MaplerStory Idle RPG are more welcoming and generous to new players so you feel comfortable. You should choose your server carefully before beginning the game. If you want to experience the game, you can also manage multiple characters on different servers to get more experience.


Tips to Avoid Server Mistakes


The first reason is for you to confirm your Friends’ servers before joining the game. Lots of people join this game to play with friends so it would be disappointing if you can’t get to your friends because of server problems. Don’t rush into character creation and also double-check your server name and region. Don’t rely on automatic selection when getting a character and if you notice you don’t like your server, then you should start over immediately so you don’t lose weeks of progress.

Changing Servers in MapleStory Idle RPG isn’t currently possible because your character is tied to the server you choose. The only way to play another World is to start a new character on the correct World. This just means your server choice In MapleStory Idle RPG is crucial because it affects your social connections, gameplay and progression. In short, take your time and select wisely from the start of the game.
