In the mobile strategy game Kingshot, hero upgrades are very important because it’s like the cornerstone of strength and progression in the game. Every hero upgrade in Kinsghot counts be it from star ascensions to even gear enhancements. The tricky part now is when there are limited resources and dozens of Kingshot heroes so knowing which heroes to prioritize can make or break your success. This article will reveal the best heroes to upgrade in Kingshot, it will explain how the upgrade system works, and also show you how to maximize your growth strategy so you don’t waste shards or gold.


How Upgrading Works in Kingshot


Upgrading in this game means improving your Kingshot heroes’ power by enhancing their gear, promoting rarities and also completing gear sets that unlock major stat boosts. Gear rarities in Kingshot progress from Common (Grey) -> Green -> Blue -> Purple -> Mythic (Gold) -> Red. Enhancements in KIngshot uses “Enhancement XP Parts” or other gear of lower rarity to level up pieces. Mythic Gear on the other hand requires “Mastery Forging” with Forgehammers and special materials to reach higher levels. Once you’ve upgraded your main heroes gear very well, you’ll unlock stronger stats for your troops and gain an edge in PvP and events.


Best Heroes to Upgrade in Kingshot (Tier Breakdown)


When deciding which heroes to upgrade first in Kingshot, it helps to follow a clear tier list based on strength, availability and Meta relevance. According to community guides in 2025, these are the best Kingshot heroes to upgrade. I also want to point out that SSR means Super Super Rare because you will see it a lot in this section.


S-Tier (Top Priority Kingshot Heroes to Upgrade)


1. Amadeus (SSR, Infantry): Amadeus is the best in frontline rallies and he also offers massive buffs although he is highly pay to win.

2. Petra (SSR, Cavalry): Petra has an excellent damage output and endurance which is good for mid to late game players.

3. Marlin (SSR, Archer): Marlin is an elite archer choice with strong AoE (Area of Effect), CC (Crowd Control) and rally support.

4. Zoe (SSR, Infantry, and Free to Play): Zoe is the top choice for players on a budget because she’s a free characters.


A-Tier (Good candidates for Upgrades after S-Tier)


1. Jabel (SSR, Cavalry): Jabel is a versatile F2P (free to play) hero who scales well. He’s a really good character to upgrade after the S-tier characters

2. Helga (SSR, Infantry): Helga is a good Kingshot hero to upgrade but she is harder to unlock so lots of fans can’t use her.


B-Tier (Kingshot Heroes Upgrade Later)


You can upgrade Kingsot heroes such as Chenko, Amane or Quinn but they shouldn’t be a priority. You can selectively upgrade them but that should be it. It also depends on you so who knows. These kingshot heroes are very useful early in the game or in specific modes but they aren’t as useful or valuable by the end of the game.



Kingshot Hero Upgrade Priority Strategy


There are limited resources in Kingshot so smart players should focus their upgrades on a few key upgrade paths rather than just upgrading everything they lay their eyes on. Your first and main rule should be to concentrate on your three main Kingshot heroes. Your main heroes are those who lead your biggest battles and who you’re comfortable using.

Your next rule should be to prioritize gear by troop class. First upgrade your Infantry Health Gear (chest and gloves). This is reinforce your frontline during battles. After that focus on Archer Lethality (Helmet and boost upgrade), and then Cavalry lethality. Once your core sets are strong, you can move to other stats such as Infantry lethality or Archer Health. You can also use reforge or the reset feature on Kinghsot heroes you hardly use to reclaim resources and redirect them to your main march.

Common Mistakes to Avoid When Upgrading Heroes in Kingshot

I already mentioned this in the above section but focus on your main heroes. Another mistake most players make is using premium currency on minor upgrades rather than saving it for major events or promotions. This might lead to a slower growth in the game
