Fortnite rolls through Seasons so often that millions of players ask themselves about When the next Season starts. New seasons means new updates and that’s one of the aspects that make Fortnite really interesting. With the return of OG mode which is a throwback to the games early map and weapons, fans are super excited. Whether you skipped a season or you’re returning after a break, knowing exact dates for Seasonal changes matter a lot. This article is going to reveal to you the latest confirmed(and estimated) dates for the next season of Fortnite, explain what OB Mode brings back, and it will show you how tpo plan ahead so you don’t miss anything.


When Does the Current Fortnite Season End?


According to public seasonal countdown trackers, Fortnite Chapter 7, Season 1 is scheduled to end on March 4, 2026. Chapter 7, Season 1 began on November 2025. This gives players roughly 95 days from the November 29, 2025 launch to complete battle pass rewards, finish quests, or catch any seasonal events.

After the Season ends, Epic will bring the servers down for maintenance. The downtime ranges from a few hours to longer periods depending on the update size as seen on past Fortnite seasons. If Epic deviates from this schedule then a new end date will be announced but that’s highly unlikely because Fortnite Seasons historically run between 10 to 14 weeks on average.


When does the Next Fortnite Season Start


The next Fortnite Season is scheduled to begin on March 4, 2026, immediately after Chapter 7 Season 1 ends. Most official trackers list the new season start and end date as the same day because Epic brings the servers down for maintenance and then reopens with the new Season. Epic usually begins seasonal downtime in early morning hours. Also expect maintenance windows announced on the Fortnite status page a day before the transition. Downtimes in Fortnite usually last for some hours and Epic rarely delays a scheduled season launch by more than 24 to 48 hours unless there are unexpected issues that sometimes extend downtime. How the New OG Mode Changes Everything


Fortnite OG mode is a throwback mode that revives the Original Fortnite Chapter 1 map, weapons, and nostalgic locations but with modern Fortnite engine optimizations. OG originally returned on December 6, 2024 as a permanent mode rather than a limited time event. OG will be making a comeback as the latest cycle is set for December 11, 2025 meaning this mode will essentially change how Seasons are experienced.

The return of OG mode means Fortnite now offers a parallel content loop as players can alternate between mainline Seasons and OG Seasons. OG will also reintroduce old weapons, Classic POIs and a familiar map layout, but with updated spawn and loot balance. It will essentially bring that classic Fortnite “feel” and offer players a sense of familiarity and freshness.

Some people might believe OG Mode just brings nostalgia but it’s a way in which players get new and classic experiences. It also broadens Fortnite appeal for both old and new players.



What to Expect in the next Season


The first thing to expect is the return of OG mode. This has already been confirmed and it is set to return on December 11, 2025. With OG and mainline modes running, expect epic to rebalance loot spawn, weapon drops, and map resources to avoid overlay. The main season will most likely continue with fresh/new map elements, POIs, and battle mechanics meanwhile OG will keep player grounded in familiar terrain. Also expect a multiple progression paths as players can now plan in two tracks (main Season battle pass rewards and the OG Mode throwback pass).

Fortnite players should also expect more collaborations and crossover patterns. This isn’t new as Fortnite is well known for its Collaboration or crossover events. It can be with animes such as My Hero Academia, car brands such as Ford Mustang, Music artists and even TV shows such as The Walking Dead. Collaborations or crossover events is 100% guaranteed.
