Brawlhalla’s ranking system can be confusing sometimes especially when you see yourself winning games but for some strange reason, you’re not climbing the ranks or you lose a few matches and your rank drops like crazy. Brawlhalla ranking is built around an Elo system that matches or pairs you against player with a similar level. Ranking in Barwlhalla isn’t just about winning but also about who you beat, how consistent you are, and how the system calculates your progress behind the scenes. This article is going to talk about how Brawlhalla rankings work, what affects your Elo and how to climb faster in the game.


How Ranking Works in Brawlhalla


Brawlhalla uses an Elo rating system which means your rank is determined by a hidden score in numbers that increases or decreases after each ranked match. This system is used in 1v1 Ranked and 2v2 Ranked queues. This mean if you win a match, you gain Elo and if you lose a match then you lose Elo. Now if you beat a higher rated or higher ranked player, you gain more Elo and if you lose to a lower ratted player, you lose more Elo. I thought of giving an example of this but I think the point was clear. This system doesn’t track how well you played (damage dealt, Kos or stats) because only the final result of a match and your opponents Elo will determine the change. I also want to add that if you keep facing lower rated or lower ranked player.


Brawlhalla Rank Tiers Explained


Your rank in Brawlhalla is directly tied to your Elo rating. Each tier represents a specific Elo range with Tin being the lowest. Your rank increases as you move from Tin and go ahead. Your Elo requirement also increases which just give. Brawlhalla rank tiers are as follows:

Tin: 0-999 Elo

Bronze: 1000-1199 Elo

Silver: 1200-1399 Elo

Gold: 1400-1679 Elo

Platinum 1680-1999 Elo

Diamond: 2000+ Elo

Valhallan: These are top Brawlhalla players above Diamond.

Your Elo determines your matchmaking so the people Brawlhalla will pit you against should be close to your level. They can be higher or lower a little but they will still be close to your level. Consistency is very important if you want to improve your Elo especially once you reach Diamond because you’ll be going up against skilled players.


Best Ways to Rank Up Fast in Brawlhalla


In all honesty, the best way to rank up fats in this game is just to improve your skills. You don’t need to play lots of games to rank up fast in Brawlhalla because you also have chances of losing in each game ou play. Your goal should be to win the few matches you play. Even if you don’t have problem losing, you should win more matches. Pick one legend you know how to use and master that legend along with his/her fighting style. If you don’t have a problem with spamming, you can go for Queen Nia and just perfectly master how to spam attacks with that character. Other people will be skilled as you so you should be careful about how you attack. Wait for opponents to miss then you attack them. For instance if someone sends a direct attack at you, jump then attack. This applies to spamming as well. You should also learn 1 or 2 combos for a weapon you use. An example of this is Sword -> Down Light (light attack button + down) -> Side Air combo or even Spear-> down light-> and recovery.


Placement Matches and Seasonal Reset


At the start of each ranked Season, you must complete 10 placement matches before receiving a rank. Ranked Mode is always available but during Seasons, but there’s slight reset. Your rank doesn’t go back to zero but it might decline a little. For instance you play normal Ranked Mode and you’re at 1600 Elo but Seasons come and reset your Elo to 1500 instead. The reason for these resets is that the matches during Seasons have a higher impact on Elo than your normal games so you can even climb the “pyramid” or “fall and die”. You also need to play 10 placement matches at the start of a new Season so you get a new rank for that Season.


Why Players Get Stuck in Ranked


Most player get stuck in ranked because they don’t understand how ranking works and it’s not because of bad matchmaking. Lots of people assume it’s just bad matchmaking and although there’s some sense to that, it’s not the full picture. Matchmaking is based on Elo meaning you are matched with people who are at your level (either higher or lower) so even though matchmaking plays a part, it just depends on you. If you beat only weak players then your climb will be slow. There are people who can defeat only players who are weaker than they are and this can slow the climb. Consistent losses also play a part for instance losing 4 matches in a row. This can affect you even if the people you play against are above you when it comes to rank.


What you should know


Matchmaking ratings takes time to stabilize so Elo drops are normal. Don’t panic if you lose a few matches because everyone losses. You should be happy when you fight stronger enemies because you will progress faster (if you get the W).

Brawlhalla ranking system is based on Elo meaning every win or lose directly affects your progress. You need to understand how matchmaking works so you know when to worry and when not to worry. Consistency is good but you should try to get some wins from that. Brawlhalla players who rank up fast are those who have perfectly mastered a character and weapon. You should be very tactical in matches even if you use someone who spams a lot.
